Barcelona Airport and umbrellas

Someone told me not to take my small, compact umbrella to Barcelona on the airplane because it would be confiscated in the airport. Is this still going on?

I'm not sure when your friend flew, but I flew out of BCN in April with a small, compact umbrella in my purse and had no problems.

That is what I was hoping to hear - regulations can change so fast that you almost have to check the day before you fly to see if any new curves have been thrown at you:)

Not at all. No special regulation as far as umbrellas are concerned in any Spanish airports.
