Pollyo Posted July 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2009 We are sailing on August 22-29th on the Magic. My mom will be sailing with my family, and I know she is not always going to want to be hanging around with us. What opportunities are there for her to reach out meet others like herself. When she goes to lunch in the dinning room, do they sit her by herself or with others? I was hoping that she would be able to have a chance to have adult conversations with others her age (65). They will seat her with other people. I have often gone to the dining room alone since DH was not hungry. She can ask to be seated with other adults, but sitting with a family is fun also. mom x4,grandma x4 Posted July 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Read your Navigator very carefully because they have always had a meet for people traveling alone and even though she is with you she could go and meet other adults. Often they will run into each other throughout the week or make a date to meet for a drink or to see a movie or something. They will meet 2 or 3 times during the cruise. also at the Art of Entertaining series I often will sit with strangers and chat. They have cooking demos and napkin folding, towel animals and such in that series over the week. Many little tables close together and you just sit by whom ever you want. People have always been very friendly to me and willing to chat especially if I say Hello to them first. Also while Hubby was taking his afternoon nap on deck 4 I often just sit in the atrium or on the next deck up by the atrium area and will visit with people sitting there. Many just sit and people watch or watch the character meet n greets. They are alwasy ready to talk a bit with a stranger. So she wont be lonesome if she will just go and explore. offtraveling Posted July 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Recently cruised on the Magic June 13 with my mom (68) and nephew (12) Diseny is the best to find activities for ALL ages. She will meet people everywhere she goes. We took a animal towel folding class, played Bingo, shuffleboard with people we met on the cruise, at lunch up on deck and met people from all over the world. Just open your mouth and you'll make a new friend. Nephew was off doing his "own thing" and having a ball. Mom and I tried to experience it all. Don't worry! Your mom will have a GREAT time.
