The "World's Largest Cruise Ship" show on the Freedom of the Seas will be rebroadcast today at 4 PM EDT on National Geographic Channel. I just happened to notice it and I'm glad because I missed it the first time around.

Nice show....but really didn't need to go into detail about their morgue, norovirus, people getting sick, and Freedom leaving port with a little girl stranded on the balcony and the mother somewhere on shore!!

Thank you for the info! It is on right now. I thought I saw all the shows on Freedom, but I had not seen this one yet.

Can you list the others you've seen? TIA

I know what you mean.... BUT, it answers questions that alot of people ask and wonder about.

Was this the New Year's Cruise????

That was pretty cool... watching how the staff works to get things done, for the Big Event!

I liked that it was a very personal example of Life On Board.

Thanks for letting us know it was going to on.

I just watched it...it was nice to see a show that focused on the SHIP, not the ports of call. It was interesting.

It has been a while but I think it was on the Travel Channel with Samantha Brown.

I just finished watching the show on National Geograhic. I really enjoyed it. I also found it very interesting how if they run low on liquor they can get it from another ship at sea but cannot get it from any port.

I even saw a glimpse of Matt Yee in the Schooner Bar, that brought back a lot of fun memories.

DW and I watched it when it aired, and we recognized the young lady that was delivering room service. This was filmed a while ago, and back in April 2009, she was the concierge in the Diamond Lounge on the Liberty. It was pretty cool to see someone on the show that we actually knew!

Of course, people do wonder about what happens in various circumstances, but I think they presented it in a way that added drama to the show. They kept carrying on about the weather as if it was something that endangered the ship.

I also thought the sequence were Ken Rush and his staff have to run around and come up with new activities for the sea day when Grand Cayman is cancelled was a bit suspect. Since there are ports out there (basically any tender port) that get skipped with some regularity, wouldn't the cruise director and his staff already have a back up plan in case that happens? That cruise can't have been the first time they ever missed Grand Cayman.

I guess I missed the part about the ship. I saw the part that talked about the dilemma they could face with rotten avocados, how the cruise director decides the activities for the day, that the staff could not touch passengers after their cruise with a norovirus epidemic, that the captain had been with the company for 15 years (I think it was the captain), how its difficult to console people when their loved ones have died on the cruise - and that she had to do that 5 times in one cruise, etc. Didn't really see anything about the ship...more like a day in the life of crew members.

When I mentioned the ship, I was referring to the ship in general and everything it involved including crew life and other things that go on behind the scenes, as opposed to showing the ports and excursions as is usually the case on shows like this. It was interesting to know they can replenish alcohol from other ships...

It was pretty cool seeing Pretty the conceirge on Liberty delivering room service.

Pretty delivers room service?

The show was a couple of years ago. Pretty started out in Room Service.

Yes, exactly. I met Pretty this past April on the Liberty. While Pretty was very good, Vinka is the one that spoiled me by keeping my glass full in the DL! :D

Hmmmm...looks like I missed more than I thought! Sounds interesting!
It was very boring. I was not interested in seeing a man with his head in the toilet vomiting. Very little footage of the ship, no cabins shown. Most of the film was concerning the loading of supplies for the kitchen and preparation for the 2006 New Years party.Really disappointing.

It wasn't suppose to be a travel channel show.

Just a 'look @ this big ship that man made' show.

Yes, it was supposed to be about the ship; however, the information they provided could pertain to any cruise ship on any cruise line. It had nothing to do with the ship itself.

But yet they chose Freedom. Guess you can't satisfy the RCL zeolots I guess who sits & opined on every little detail.

I agree it wasn't supposed to be a travel channel show, yet that is basically what it was.

National Geographic is known to show documentaries involving nature, science, history. I would tend to think that a show talking about the ship (not what is inside the ship...the actual ship), along with detail on the technology might be on the NatGeo channel. One which talks about how a passenger didn't pay attn to the time and left her 8 yr old daughter on the ship or how a man dislocated his shoulder on the Flowrider is actually a show they should air on the Travel Channel. Now if they went into more detail about the ship's technology, or how it was actually manmade....that I can see on the NatGeo show.
