Hotel in Miami on Super Bowl Weekend 2/6-2/7 Help!

We are doing Carnival Cruise on 2/7/10. Just tried to find a hotel in Miami for Sat. 2/6. It's Super Bowl Weekend in Miami. Forget it, nearly all hotels are "not available" or priced ridiculously high. Any ideas from fellow cruisers. I guess alternative is to go further north.

I feel your pain a little. We are cruising on Jan 31 and I am going to book a room for Jan 30 and they are starting to sell out even that weekend! I was able to find a few still open though. Good luck to you. :)

Ugh, you're in a rut. :( We're flying in post cruise from San Juan. Our original plan, BS (Before Superbowl) was to spend a night in Miami before heading home. Now, we're risking a flight from SJ to Chicago  to Kansas City just to avoid Miami altogether that day. I see why you need to fly in early due to being from NH. I would suggest north, and plan on a drive the day of. Good luck!!

Have you booked airfare??

If not consider staying in Orlando, the drive down to Miami is only 3 hrs and the car hire rates are about $30 per day.

Hotels in Orlando are around $50 on priceline for that time near the airport.

I think we are going to book in Boynton Beach, which is north of Fort Lauderdale and then pick up shuttle from Carnival Cruise at Fort Lauderdale Airport. Seems a sensible way to go via Carnival shuttle service.

Hi,:) the week of the Superbowl is one of the MOST expensive weeks

in the "SuperBowl City" and surrouding areas all year.

The folks who go for the week are part of the NFL and their sponsors.

They have the best hotels and stuff. The regular folks have to stay

in the outskirts.

Orlando would be one option or going towards Tampa which is across

the state would also be an option.

But as for all the small towns up and down the East Coast...good luck.

Hollywood, Boynton Beach, Delray, etc....etc...etc....are going

to FULL UP.

If rooms are available I would definitely book them now....prices are

still going to be high but at least you will get a place to stay.

You'll need to go north of Boynton Beach. As Lois said, all the beach towns from Naples to Stuart will be full for Superbowl week. All kinds of support people will be in town for the week with their families.

Orlando would be a good option but I have a feeling they also will be very busy.

I think I'm safe. I got a room in Boynton Beach, so now all I have to do is get to Fort Lauderdale Airport and catch the Carnival shuttle to the Port of Miami on Sunday. I imagine traffic is going to be a nightmare that day.

That is the weekend of the Miami Marathon.
