Hello,

Has anyone done the Segway? If so would you recommend it? Was it fun?

Yes! I did it last summer in King's Wharf. You'll spend ten minutes learning to drive the Segway (it's easy). You wear a radio so you can hear the guide, then you'll begin the tour. I think it was about 90 minutes.

Next time I'm there I'll take the Segway tour of St. George.

My wife and I did the Segway in King's Wharf last year. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Jordon was our guide, and she was great.

We liked it so much that we went back and did the tour in St. George this year with Eugene.

(same company) He was fantastic also. I think we enjoyed the St. George trip even more than the King's Wharf tour. I think it was more scenic. You can't go wrong with either trip. It is a lot of fun!

Could a healthy older person, who cannot walk long distances, do this tour? Is it hard to balance or is it even a "balance" issue?

Thanks!

I've been on a Segway and once you get the hang of it there is no problem. The balance issue is just learning how to control the Segway. (Leaning forward and back to start and stop) The website for the tour operator says that it is not recommended for "preganant women and those over 70". To me 70 is just a number though. Some 70 year olds are probably "younger" than some 50 year olds.

I was surprised how tired my lower legs got during our Segway tour. You basically rock back and forth from your toes to your heal to control the Segway. I would think anyone that's comfortable standing for 90 minutes would be able to do the Segway tour. Don't try it unless you're sure you can stand for 90 minutes.

Where all did you go in St. George? I'm fairly familiar with the area so give me a "blow by blow".:)

My DH, DS, and I did the segway tour of the Dockyard. We had a great time. But I did notice that my legs were tired that night. But I would do it again. We had lots of fun.

Segway so much fun. Once you got the hang of it it was fairly easy, although I found stepping one and off a little difficult. i would do it again and recommend it

Two years ago we did the segway tour at Kings Wharf. We enjoyed it so much we did it again last year.

This time we did it the last morning in port at St. Georges. We had done pretty what we had wanted to and not really enough time to walk to and enjoy a beach. This is were we rode by: Unfinished church, Tabacco Bay, went through Fort St. Catherine (parked the segways at the entrance), St. Catherines Beach, Drew's Bay, Almeida's Dairy Farm, Alexandra Battery Park, Gates Fort Park, Sommers Garden and back to the shop. It was great! My husband and I were the only ones on the trip. We were able to operate them so well that the guide pulled us over to take us out of slow mode, and we were able make frequent 'photo stops'.

Hope this helps.

Michele
