D & D Posted July 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Help! We need excursion suggestions for these 3 ports. We're almost 60 and snorkling & scuba diving is not for us. NCL Star excursions don't have much that catches our eyes. What is your experience with these ports, locals tour operators, etc.? Appreciate any help you can give. tcdcruiser Posted July 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2009 For Cartagena, be sure to visit the old town, La Popa and San Felipe de Barajas Fort. For ideas compare the on-line Frommer's with 1000 Places to See Before You Die (paper only). Also, download Google Earth and place a check mark in the Panoramio option. You can then fly-by (virtually) all the tourist sites and literally see what looks interesting. Good Luck
Putterdude Posted August 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2009 In PuntarenasI would recommend Charlie Soto and his Okeydokey tours, we used him in January and were very pleased with him. www.okeydokeytours.com/
D&N LUV 2 TRAVEL Posted September 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2009 Which tour did you go on ? We are looking at the B2 tour and was wondering if you have any feedback on that tour. In PuntarenasI would recommend Charlie Soto and his Okeydokey tours, we used him in January and were very pleased with him. www.okeydokeytours.com/

catl331 Posted September 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2009 We took a tour through the countryside to a town where they decorated wagons and stopped at a large gift shop where we tasted various fruits. We also stopped to visit a metal church .Costa Rica is very hard to travel in with just a few winding roads that get bogged down with traffic. They advised against renting a car due to crime and theft. They used to have a trip to San Jose but the buses weren't getting back in time for departure. Railroad tracks were destroyed during an earthquake years ago and never fixed so all truck traffic etc is on those roads. Ships will leave without you if you are not on a ship tour. Didn't even have time to walk around Puntarenas.
