abcgirl625 Posted July 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Hi there, My husband and I are going on an Eastern Caribbean cruise with Carnival in August. We booked the Atlantis Beach Day Excursion through Carnival ($89 one)--I have been to Atlantis before while on a cruise, but was with a group and that was organized through a group. Just wondered if anyone had done this particular excursion before and could tell me what to expect? (Since we already paid for it, I'd like to hear the positives!!! haha:o) I know I probably paid a little more than if we did it separate from the cruiseline, but feel the most secure booking through Carnival. Also, we have chosen not to book any excursions yet in St. Maarten...can anyone give any suggestions for activities there? I have done the Golden Eagle Catamaran before and thought the snorkling was just ok, but wondered if there were any *cheaper* excursions, since we already spent a bit on Nassau. Would appreciate any pointers to helping to make this the best cruise ever! :) Thanks, ABCGIRL625
calgarygary Posted July 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2009 Why not make St. Maarten a beach day. There is a stand right near the pier with the rates posted. If you decide to go to Orient Beach, just let your driver know your "skin" tolerance and he will leave you at the appropriate part of the beach. lucy2mb Posted July 31, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2009 We are going to St. Maarten in January and someone told me that Baywatch and I believe Pedros were good places to eat. If you want to book a good private tour, I have read ALOT of good reviews about Bernard's. I believe you can go to www.bernardstours.com It is $35-looks like great tour that goes to several different places, including Orient and Maho. From what I have read, taking a taxi/van round trip to Orient Beach would be less than $20. hope this helps.

family cruisers Posted August 9, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2009 No trip to St.Maarten/ St.Martin would be complete without a visit to Orient Beach. I've been there several times and it's amazing. The far southern end of the beach is the Nudist part , there were wooden sticks in the sand with warning signs letting you know that people in this area are fully naked and they were right. The other parts are clothing optional. The best time was when I went with my Mother and my then 14 year old son. I sat behind him a little bit on the beach watching his head slowly turn back and forth as a topless woman would go by. I knew right then and there I'd be having grandkids someday :-) In all honesty it is one of the most gorgous beaches I have ever been to. Bermuda and St.Martin are tops on my list. Waikiki beach in St.Martin is clothing optional. Have a great time
