amyellen02 Posted August 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2009 I am trying to lighten my load for our upcoming cruise on the Solstice! This means I do not want to take things I do not need. Ladies! I need your help! I do not want to lug around my shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryer if the ones on the ship are pretty good. My shampoo/conditioner question: Is the shampoo/conditioner a two-in-one deal, or are they in two separate containers? Is there lotion? Someone said that they provide Q-tips. Is that correct? Is the hair dryer good quality? Any info on what is provided as far as toiletries are concerned would be great. If the shampoo and conditioner is just commercial grade and low quality, I will bring my own. But, if it's good (by good, I mean moisturizing, etc.), I don't mind using theirs. I just need some opinions from the ladies about the toiletries!
dblane Posted August 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2009 On Solstice in April, if I remember correctly, shampoo and conditioner were separate containers. Body lotion is nice, lemon grass fragrance. Yes there was Q-tips. I thought the hairdryer was adequate, out at the vanity, hand held. I do have short hair. I liked everything and we used it the whole cruise. Hope this helps. Have a great cruise!!
S&M in Pgh Posted August 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2009 Shampoo & Conditioner were fine, I wouldn't bother bringing your own... Qtips & cottonballs were also provided. The Hairdryer was okay. I agree with packing less, but I usually overpack my clothes anyway... Enjoy your cruise S
landlockedinco Posted August 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2009 Hi, I'm usually not fussy about toiletries, but I was not happy with the conditioner, my hair was so knotted. IMHO, shampoo is not as important as conditioner, and I will bring my own next time (I hope there's a next time!). The soap was fine, and I also remember a shower cap. Rare hcat Posted August 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2009 I hated the lemongrass fragrance--the previous product was so much nicer--but it's personal choice...
amyellen02 Posted August 1, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted August 1, 2009 Thank you so much for the advice! I will bring my own conditioner - I agree, the conditioner is more important than the shampoo.
Wine-O Posted August 2, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 2, 2009 Not speaking for all guys, but most of us could care less. No problem. :)
Cathy Maneri Posted August 2, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 2, 2009 I bring my own and find that a small 4 oz bottle usually lasts a 7-day cruise. I would bring extra conditioner depending how long your hair is. You could use the ships products and just bring a styling aid, like leave-in conditioner or shine cream. I use the conditioner the ship gives me to shave my legs. The one thing I do bring is Oil of Olay face wash sheets the dry ones that lather when wet (I cut them in half). Soap dries out my skin. SandG Posted August 3, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2009 The answer depends on your hair type. Mine is layered from short to medium and I thought the shampoo and conditioner we got on the Solstice worked well for me and it was also plentiful. My daughter has fine long hair and she brought her own. Sue
