happy cruzer Posted August 3, 2009 #1 Posted August 3, 2009 http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=56452 I read the previous review from a newbie cruiser. I do not like to refer to reveiws on the boards because I guess folks post only to the review section to not have alot of discussion. but that review raised some serious concerns to me Is the music really that bad on embarcation day? Doesn't the daily schedule list all the activities? Are there not some included at not extra cost exercise classes? Carnival makes weak drinks that don't taste good? Are there stabilizers on Ecstacy? Can you not take your wine to the cabin after dinner? There were other items that I know newbies get confused on, but the ones I mentioned, I just wanted to make sure I understood if they had changed. Thanks.
Scott_F Posted August 3, 2009 #2 Posted August 3, 2009 We were on Ecstasy in June. My only issue was some sewage smells, but I'm told the week after, there were none. So, hopefully they got it fixed. Bartenders vary on drinks. The bar attached to the casino was making most of my drinks and they were good. We took our champagne from the dinner table and no one said anything. They had music on embarkation day? Just kidding. Typical reggae band stuff I think. Not sure about stabilizers, but we were on Deck 5 and had almost no felt motion. I actually like a little motion to help me sleep. I wish there had been more! :) Plenty of activiites. I don't cruise for stupid crap like hairy chest and sexy legs. I cruise to relax. Activities vary for sure, but there were plenty of them.
happy cruzer Posted August 3, 2009 Author #3 Posted August 3, 2009 thanks Scott, your comments make it sound like normal cruise, not perfect but no major surprises besides the sewer smell.
Scott_F Posted August 3, 2009 #4 Posted August 3, 2009 She's supposed to go into Dry Dock next month for some updates. My biggest complaint with her was the pool area was so small. The waterslide was an afterthought and takes up a lot of what I'd call aesthetic space. The "pool" near the stern was basically a large hot tub. I'm really looking forward to Conquest's adult pool. Had a lot of fun there last year.
firefly333 Posted August 3, 2009 #5 Posted August 3, 2009 Exercise classes do indeed cost, none are free in the spa that I know of. I did have some weak drinks on both Ecstasy and Conquest ... but then maybe I make mine at home too strong? Didnt care for the music on board the pool deck, but who cares? I love the nightly shows, the meals, seeing the ports, lots of other stuff. You arent going to get every thing free or exactly how you want it.
Traveler353 Posted August 3, 2009 #6 Posted August 3, 2009 I ignore reviews that are over the top negative. I know that we are only getting a small part of the story/truth. The one referenced comes under that heading.
