Pool on the Fantasy

Hi everyone,

I just returned home from my first cruise. It was fun, but I was a little surprised that the ship only had one rather small pool for 2000+ guests. I was only able to swim during elegant night when everyone else was out at dinner and meeting the captain. At other times, it was funny to look down on the pool because it was so packed-- just people standing straight up in the water, elbow-to-elbow! :D

I'm not making this thread just to complain about it (though I won't pretend I didn't find it disappointing); I'd like to know if it's standard for Carnival ships to only have one pool. I tend to think the Fantasy must be an exception due to the Water Works upgrade, where I believe a pool used to be. Thanks in advance for your answers, and again, not trying to flame the ship... just wondering!

The Freedom and Valor both have one 'adults only' aft pool on the Lido. Then there is a pool on the Lido deck kinda in the middle of the ship(main pool), and then there is another up on the tiered sun deck...may actually be on deck 10. I believe that there is a really small kiddie pool on both ships as well on the port side, towards the front of either deck 10 or 11.

None of these pools is what you call Olympic sized! They are all fairly small, and usually the main pool was jam-packed. I will say that on both the ships, the aft pools were less crowded, and were mainly adults.

I thought it was strange too but honestly I just never see that many people in the pools when I cruise (unless it is Spring Break or lots of kids onboard), so maybe they have figured out that the space is better used for something else....dunno

Indeed, that's the case... On the Fantasy Class ships the aft pool has been sacrificed for the adults only Serenity Area which includes two hot tubs.

Adults seem to prefer hot tubs to pools. They allow for relaxation and conversation, something that's not quite so easy in pools...

Personally, I don't even get in the pools on any ships that have salt water in them; just don't like it. I do enjoy the fresh water pools on Princess and HAL however.

The first thing dd18 said when we got on the Fantasy last week was "look how big the pool is!" Coming from the larger ships, it was a bigger than the "newer" pools. It wasn't unbearably crowded - but crowded it was. Truthfully, we enjoyed the waterworks so much, we didn't miss an aft pool!

Unless my brain is completely malfunctioning this morning (which is always possible, lol), I believe the kiddie pool was removed to create the Serenity area, and the large round pool with two hot tubs flanking it was removed to put in the Waterworks area. I know I took some photos on our last cruise before the refurb, but I have no idea where they are right now.

During our Fantasy trip (July 25th) it seemed that more of us adults were utilizing the waterworks slides rather than the pool or Serenity hot tub. It was a heck of a lot more fun too! (Hey Faye! he he he)

The Conquest has 2 pools. One midship and the other in the back. Both are fairly small. I don't even attemp to go in them.

Sappygirl,

The conquest actually has four pools, the main pool, adult only pool aft, the pool directly in front of the slide, and the kiddie pool on deck 11. When we were on here two weeks ago there was an even distribution of people in each pool and none of them were crowded.
