fascination 12/20 quick review

Recommended Posts

just got back from the 4 day fascination. was not as many small children as

I though there would be. there were plenty of teens, but they were ok.

I would say that about 1/3 of the ship was from India, or "Indian". It was interesting one night on the lido deck to watch the party that they had

going on. I felt that carnival did a great job accomodating them.

On the plus side:

The cabins were nice. I just loved the beds and bedding. Also I liked that

they had ABC/CBS/NBC (sorry could not miss Amazing race! :) )

The food was pretty good. THere was plenty of variety --they offered

low carb, low sugar, vegatarian, etc. There was always something to eat.

Cozumel as a port. we were lucky that tenders were not needed.

on the negative side:

my husband was very upset that for breakfast one morning in the dining

room they REFUSED to let him eat alone. the dining room was empty.

he wanted to eat there, not up on deck or at the grill and not with others.

The gym is very outdated. equipment was broken.

Spa treatments include a sales pitch for other treatments and products.

now all cruises and cruise lines seem to do that, but when paying for a relaxing spa experience I dont want to be hard saled.

I felt that for the "day at sea" there were not that many activities to choose

Overall I enjoyed being away from the kids for a few days. The bike/snorkling

excursion was wonderful in cozumel. the crowd is young, and believe

it or not most people were "thin". I am not overweight, but I was surrounded

by so many great bodies. many of them in their 20's mind you, but still, with

Americans supposily overweight, this cruise did not seem to have that many.

(this comment was based on another note in this board about overweight cruisers)

Next time, I will probably do RCL though and one of the newer ships. We are cruised out after doing the disney wonder earlier this year with the family

and this cruise, so it will be a while.
