entertainers and/or employees

Has anyone ever booked a particular cruise simply because they want to have a repeat experience with certain employees (steward, bartender, cruise director) or entertainers?

Piano player Bert Stratton has quite a following and yes, people book cruises just to be where he is. I've never seen him.

I never have. I really couldn't tell you who any of those people have been on any of my cruises. I appreciate a good piano bar, or a classical guitarist, but have never really paid attention to the names or positions of any of the folks who are employees or entertainers on any particular ship.

Absolutely. On our very first cruise (Princess, of course) we met a then-ACD and became fast friends. We've been friends ever since and have booked cruises 3 times specifically because he was assigned to the ship. Unfortunately, only once did we actually get to cruise together again (Feb. 2008) because he was transferred unexpectedly on 2 prior occasions. But, hey, it was still a cruise. ;)

In addition, we had an amazing cruise on the Ruby in December 2008 and became friendly with several members of the staff and crew. We booked the Ruby again for February 2010 partly because we fell in love with the ship, and also because we confirmed that many of the people we fell in love with on the prior cruise are supposed to be on the Ruby (either still or again) at that time.

And, if anyone knows where our favorite MD waitress, Kayan from Jamaica, is at any given moment, please let us know. We'd do almost anything to sail with her again anytime. :D

We had a great head waiter once on a P&O cruise. We got on so well that the next year, as we were booked on the same ship, we requested we be seated in his section of the dining room.

Unfortunately he had been indiscrete with a passenger and had to leave the ship the day we boarded.

We haven't done this yet, but if anyone know if Marilla from Brazil has returned to a Princess ship for a new contract, I think we would consider second and even third choice ships and itinararies to see her again. Her smiling face at the International Cafe and as a greeter in the Anytime Dining room on the Emerald added so much to our cruise experience. I think that she was the perfect example of having her talent (in her case, her sweet disposition) utilized in the best possible positions.

And, as I've said before on this board, an Alastair Greener/Frankie CD/ACD combo...for that cruise I would truly go to the ends of the earth.

Hi!

My husband and I have booked 10 cruises specifically because Bert Stratton was performing in Crooner's. We've also become friends with him.

Reggie

Is his schedule out there? I'm certainly not going to book a cruise because he's on it, but I would like to know if perhaps he'll be on one that I already have booked.

I'm curious about this as well. We're booked on the Emerald.

Hi!

I know that Bert is going to be on the Caribbean Princess from the end of August until early November, but I don't know what his schedule will be after that. We are planning to see him on the "Bert Cruise" on the Crown December 5th. However, I don't know when he'll be on any of the ships after that.

When he was on the ships almost full time, we used to check his schedule before we booked. Now that he has moved to Nashville, he is on the ships less and often fills in when and where he is needed. Hopefully, we'll be able to catch him again sometime during the winter. I'm definitely a big fan!!!

I have heard through the grapevine that there are people who book a cruise because of a piano playing singer named Mauritzo is on that cruise. On a recent transatlantic cruise he was quite popular and always had a large following when he sang. In fact there were so many people that the passageway was blocked. He is not our cup of tea. I just heard him as we walked by or tried to walk by through all of his fans.

No exactly and not Princess, but I've been on a couple of Oldies Music theme cruises. They are really a lot of fun with people who have our same taste in music. We often see people we know from the Oldies circuit. Tentatively hope to do the Concerts at Sea cruise in 2011.

We were so pleased with Captain John Foster, CD David cole, and music duo Elua, that we booked the Golden to Hawaii again this year. They made our cruise last October the best we have ever had, so we decided to come back for more this year!! I hope Captain John Foster will be the captain this year. I have heard David Cole and Elua will be on the cruises to Hawaii.

No, we haven't done that but have rebooked on the ships we like. We did 4 cruises on the "old" Royal princess and had another one booked (which was cancelled) before she was sent to P and O and now have cruised 3 times on the "new" Royal Princess.
