eurodl Posted August 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2009 We are thinking of changing our cabin on the Explorer. We currently have 7274 (an E2 category) and just found out the next category up (D1) is a little cheaper. They are on deck 10 aft - 1688, 1390 and 1392. One is on the corner and looks like it might be bigger, but hard to say. Has anyone stayed in any of these cabins? There is only a difference of 30 sq. ft. and our cabin now is in the middle of the ship. Is it worth changing? They also had a couple others on deck 7 and deck 8 but between midship and aft. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
cb at sea Posted August 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Take 1688--the room is "squarer" than most, so you have alot of space, and the balcony is very deep....be aware that you won't have a "straight down" view to the water--there is some of the ship that you must look past, but the space will be worth it! eurodl Posted August 11, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Thanks cb! I did find some photos of 1388 - the corner on the starboard side. It shows a pole in the middle of the cabin. I'm assuming that 1688 would have the same? I'm also wondering if there will be more noise since the Island Grill is directly above on deck 11. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1054441466041546295NpTRpo?vhost=travel
serene56 Posted August 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2009 1688/1388 are the most sought after balconies. grab it now and make decisions later.
LuvMyVette Posted August 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2009 eurodl: Definitely grab 1688. DH/I stayed in 1388 on a B2B last year and loved it. You will have a lot more room to move around in the cabin. We heard no noise from Island Grill and we are very light sleepers. Sea ya!
eurodl Posted August 14, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted August 14, 2009 thanks for the replies but after talking to hubby he'd rather stay in the cabin we have now...mid-ship. He's worried about the motion being in an aft cabin. :(

Rare Teeara Posted August 14, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Never had a problem with motion in those aft cabins. If anything they're more stable. You won't regret it.
