Just Back Coral Princess 12/20 (review And Pics.)

Recommended Posts

I promised everyone that when I got back I would write a review..... It's been exactly an hour since I got off the Coral!

My review is going to be long, and I know a lot of people prefer reviews short, and to the point. So, I've divided my review into sections.. so you can find the info. you're looking for. And, if I didn't answer your questions, just post it below, and I will try to answer it as soon as I can.

(wow.... I sound like a message machine:D )

So... (my first cruise review) HERE GOES!

EMBARKATION

I live in Miami, so of course it takes a few days to go across the world to Port Everglades. Actually, It's very easy just to drive to the ship, takes about an hour. I was traveling with my brother, and his sons. It took a while to get everyone together to leave for the ship. We thought we would have to wait on line forever. We got to the port pretty late, the QM2 was there! and of course our beautiful ship!

Princess has their embarkation process down to a science, It did not take long to get onboard.

THE SHIP

The coral is an absolutely gorgeous ship. The atrium is....WOW! It's one of those atriums where you just look up, and say..oohh, ahhhhh... It's constantly changing colors. In fact, those little twinkling light are everywhere(even in a bathroom)! The Lotus pool is great, and so is the Universe lounge. And, the area outside the Bayou makes you feel like you're walking down a street. The ship has a lot more neon, and fiber-optics then I thought, but nothing too flashy. I'm really not sure whether I like the Coral, or the Star better. The star gave a more comfortable feeling, but the Coral is more beautiful. I was not disappointed by the ship, it usually never felt smaller than the Star. I never experienced any crowds either.

THE CREW

This ship had the Friendliest crew I've ever experienced on a ship. I really bonded with our waiter, and cabin steward who did magic tricks for us every day. I always got a smile, and a "hello", from almost every crew member I passed. The CD, and Cruise-staff was very good, and did a good job getting everyone involved.

Entertainment:

There was many fun activities during the day onboard. At night, there was plenty to keep you busy. I didn't see many shows, but what I saw was very good. Tribute (production show) was very well done, and one of the best I've seen. There was also a comedian who was fantastic! Sybil in the Bayou was great, we were there almost every night. There was also very good live music in Crooners, and the wheelhouse. The Explorers lounge was the disco, and it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I actually thought it was a nice disco.

Cabin:

I had a mini-suite on Caribe Deck (C503). It was okay, pretty spacious. Not as good as what I've previously had. The shower was good, and had a nice bath area. The balcony was very small, and not very private.

I also saw an inside cabin. It was spacious, and nicely decorated, although the shower was tiny!

FOOD:

Now, for the most important part... the Food! The food was the best I've ever had on a ship! Our waiters were great. The food was just fantastic! The Pizza was the best I've ever had. The horizon was basically the average ship buffet, nothing special, but nothing to complain about. The Bayou was good, not great. Although, the music, and atmosphere was great. You either like the food in the Bayou, or you don’t. I didn't try Sabatini's.

In fact, there was only one thing about this cruise I hated.....Disembarkation!!

The disembarkation process was done very well, but I hated it anyways!

The ship rocked a little. Enough so you could feel it, but not enough to annoy you.

PORTS:

Limon- We did Oscar, and he was great.

Panama Canal- We did the Ocean to Ocean tour and were fascinated by the Canal, although the tour was very unorganized.

Grand Cayman- We were going to swim with the stingrays. This port was cancelled due to bad weather:(

OVERALL:

Overall, this was a fantastic cruise. I would love to sail the Coral again. It was not my best cruise ever....but how can I complain!!!

PICS: I haven't uploaded all my pics. yet.... but when I do I will post a link on this thread.

I hope you enjoyed my review, and just post any questions you may have below, and I will be sure to answer them;)

(post-cruise depression)

This cruise went by very fast!

I love princess, and am looking forward to sailing princess ships in the future.

I am looking at these ships for a future cruise:

Dawn Princess, Island Princess, Diamond princess

any suggestions on the above ships?

cruzinj,

Wow! I can't believe you're back already (I can imagine how you feel ;) )

Thanks for the review...I'm glad you enjoyed the Coral as much as we did.

Can't wait to sail her again next year.

I have cruised the Dawn 3 times and love her, love her, love her.

The Coral however took my breath away.

The Dawn to me is a near perfect ship and I think with the Coral, Princess has combined the best of the Sun Class and the Grand Class.

Can't wait to see your pictures.

Sharon

Oh yes, I forgot one thing to mention in my review...

On fiesta deck the ventilation was very bad, you could smell cig. smoke well outside the Casino! I know this sounds weird but... the hallway outside the explorer's lounge gave me an uncomfortable feeling. ( many post talk about this walkway )

Oh no.. I forgot to mention one more thing too (I wrote my review really fast).

We met with a few CC members. There were not many people on our roll-call.... but we met with the few that were there. We saw one couple frequently on our cruise, and we talked a lot. They were very nice, and I hope to hear from them again on these boards.:)

I was wondering what you did on your tour with Oscar. We are currently planning on the "Costa Rica Favorites" tour through Princess. It includes the aerial tram, lunch & the canals. Did you happen to talk to anyone who did this?

I have tried to email Oscar twice and have received no response. I guess I need to call him.
