DD'S 23rd birthday

IMO, it would be best to schedule it on a night that is NOT the formal night.

Hopefully your TA will inform HAL as to her birthday, but it wouldn't hurt to go to the PG in advance while on the ship and inform them of the birthday celebration.

We have a 23 year old DD, also! :)

We are taking our 25 yr. old g-daughter on a Caribbean cruise in Jan. for her birthday and we also plan to take her to the Pinnacle. I thought I would go to the Concierge and have her/him make our reservations. She's been waiting since her 16th birthday for this when we promised this trip.

Happy Birthday to your DD. Barb:)

We also have a 23 year old DD, but that's by the way!

In 2007 we were on the Ryndam in Alaska when it was DH's birthday. We didn't mention it to anyone (he thought he would keep quiet about it) but I guess the date had been picked up from our booking information. There was a 'birthday greetings' note outside our cabin that morning - several times during the day crew members from the front office that we hadn't even met before greeted him by name and wished him a 'Happy Birthday' (they must have memorised his photograph I suppose) which was very impressive, then at dinner that evening (it was a formal night so we were all dressed up) a chocolate birthday gateau complete with candle was delivered to our table at dessert time while our dining steward led the singing of 'Happy Birthday'. It was certainly a day to remember! After dinner a guy from the next table came over to shake DH's hand and offer his congratulations. It turned out to be his birthday the following day and strangely they were exactly the same age!

I'm going to try to attach a picture to this message - first attempt, so keeping my fingers crossed that it works!!

I do think that we might schedule this celebration on the night of the Master Chef's Dinner, since I have read many opinions that this is one event to pass on. How would I determine the evening of the MC Dinner?

Ask the maitre d' at the Pinnacle. He'll know. He'll know. ;)

I don't think there is any advantage to paying for the Pinnacle in advance. I say that since I don't think you can actually reserve a table before boarding.

You might as well book on board and have the bill added to your shipboard account.

Yes, you CAN reserve the date and time in advance when you pay for the dinner online. When you go online to the HAL site, for booked guests, onboard gifts, restaurant reservations, there will be a drop down menu whereby you can choose the date and time and then you pay by credit card. You get an email confirmation of the date/time and payment. When you arrive in your cabin, your reservation confirmation card will be there. You can always confirm while you are onboard.

It might be hard to get a res at the PG on the night of the Master Chef's dinner, as many who have seen it before choose that night to avoid the DR. If you are definitely going to eat there and are thinking about that night, it might be best to do as some have suggested, and pre book it online. You can always change the date on once on board...

It could also be a good idea to mention the special day to the PG manager to see if they can do something special in addition to the regular cake and sing along!!
