Is there a place to store hand luggage on the Jewel?

When we embark, is there a place on the Jewel to leave our hand luggage while we wait for our cabin to be ready? Several here have mentioned such a place on other ships, but I've not seen any mention of it on the Jewel. We were on the Jewel last year, but we boarded so late that we didn't need to stash our hand luggage.

If there is, how do you find out where it is?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

We have not seen or heard of any spot for hand luggage on any of the NCL ships we have sailed.

Previously, when we boarded, we went straight to our cabin to see if we could drop off the bag.

Now, they have the hallway doors closed to prevent you from reaching your cabin until all of the cabins are prepared for the sailing. So we just brought the luggage with us.

I'm not 100pct certain about this, but I believe I remember hand luggage being put in the Fizz lounge or in one of the other lounges, while waiting for cabins. Although I also recall seeing people with theirs. (we had a suite and were taken directly to our cabin sooo...)..

On the Jade (Jewel's sister ship) this past Jan/Feb on our B2B, they had us store our hand luggage in the Medusa Lounge. An attendant was on duty who issued us claim tickets and if you were not back to pick your items up by a specified tuime then tey would be delivered to your cabin. We picked our items up just before they were going to deliver them and heade to our then ready cabin. We came on later for our Jewel trip so cabins were all open so don't know if they had the service. I do not recall them having this service at all on our Pride of America cruise in Hawaii as we had our hand luggage with us during lunch in the buffet.

I might suggest the small wheeled type bag in case they are not operating the luggage check, or if it is almost time to go to your cabin and if you are standing and walking alot to get onboard. We always have a airline type roll aboard with my computer bag hanging off of it, and a few bottles of wine inside, so it is heavy. Having wheels is no problem. Sometimes we sneak it to our cabin. Sometimes we just wheel it to the main dining room and have a nice quiet lunch before we start exploring.

Thats what we do too, go to the dining room. Just put the bags off to the side and by the time we're done with a nice relaxing lunch, rooms have been ready for guests.

Thanks for the responses. In the past I've always just taken my roll-on with me, but it does make for congestion if we end up in the buffet. Hoping to go instead to the MDR this time. I am trying to help a whole group of people on this cruise, so I wanted to give them the correct information. (Sometimes I just slap a tag on it and leave it with the porter, since there is nothing of any value in my hand luggage.) But, again, I'm trying to get information for others as well.

Why don't you take your hand luggage with you. You don't have to wait long before you get into your cabin. NCL are very organised!

That's what we've always done, and all we ever have is a roller case. However, I am trying to get information for a group of 70 people, and you KNOW some of them are going to have a laptop, various small items, and a regular bag. Overpacking, you know.:)

And while we hope to eat in the MDR when we board, if some prefer the cafeteria, the luggage just adds to the confusion up there. Since some ships have a lounge set aside for hand luggage (I've read), I'd like to suggest that to them. We will probably be among the first to board since our plane arrives early--we hope!:D--and usually we don't count on our cabin being ready until about 2 p.m.

Thanks for responding. Kathy

Kathy, have you contacted NCL directly for help? With a group that large I'm sure you can get special help and consideration.

Thanks for that suggestion, but I'm not the group leader. I just like to give correct information to the individuals who ask me--and since I'm the "cruise maniac" in the group, a lot of them do.

I did ask NCL if there was a place, but they didn't know. Surprise??:)

Guess we'll just go with the flow and I won't mention it to anyone.
