I was there in July on the Mariner...we at the time were surprised they were still stopping there but were told they stopped for a month or so and then carried on business as usual. Quite frankly, you really don't see any of Haiti - it is a fully fenced off area meant to feel like a private island.

If you walk down to the "end" of the private beach you would see that a non passenger would not be able to enter the area at all. It is similar to a private resort only passengers are allowed in. I do believe that after the storms this summer that many of the islands were closed for a while during the clean up.
