Petrohue River Rafting - INDEPENDENTLY?

Has anyone had any luck/recommendations for booking a raft trip while in Puerto Mott independently? There are lots of good reviews for the trip, but all seem to have been booked through the cruiseline, which is not my preference. Given we are in port from 8-6, I am not too worried about missing the ship, so I am hoping to get a recomendation from the great folks on this board.

Thanks!

I, too, would like the answer to this... the ship wants 150, I'm sure we could do better than that! When are you sailing?

Almost two months after you, we are on the last NCL Star departure from Buenos Aires on March 28th.

So far I have not found any operators who will let you do it indepently...but I wil ltry GV. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Clay,

I am also looking for the Petrohue rafting. I found this: http://www.ayacara.cl/rafting.htm (in Spanish) ive contacted them and they told me that the price is $60usd plus transportation from the ship to the river, $125 for a van for up to 11 people. Thats what they told me.

The ship is charging 150, so for $25 I'd just stay with the ship tour.

Nathan - I really wish you would go on "our" cruise....since my spanish is so lacking, i can't translate this page so therefore would be scared to make plans to do this....even though I think the rafting would be great!

Clay,

We're interested in this as well. I always go to a translator tool like Google's Babelfish - they're not perfect, but help to a certain extent...

(this company posts that the guides are bilingual, although they could be spanish/chinese :D)

bringing this forward - maybe someone has done this on their own in Puerto Montt. In my research - they talk about Puerto Montt as a fleet of mini vans - certainly I would think you could get some reasonable transportation to where the rafts are. Maybe a trip later in the day would be a better bet? We are doing the 1/17 NCL Sun.

Thanks for doing that. I did finally have some luck finding an operator who would do a rafting trip for us. Alas, they don't have wet suits to fit folks my size (Six Foot Seven and overweight) so we aren't gonna be able to do it. But he gave pretty quick replies via email. He quoted prices around US$165pp for two, US$110pp for three or four and down to US$81pp for five or six. I wish we could do it...good luck and be sure to take good notes and do a review when you return from Sun. We are on her last BA departure in late March.
