New Year's Cruise 2010

I'm thinking about booking the December 30, 2010, cruise on Carnival Spirit to the Mexican Riviera for eight days. I've never sailed on Carnival before and am wondering how that ship and cruise are. I'll be coming off a HAL 10-day southern Caribbean cruise less than a month before and have no desire to make a long flight back over to Florida again from Arizona to take the HAL New Year's cruise. I also have the feeling that Carnival may be the better choice for me for a New Year's cruise. I'll be traveling alone and will be more interested in enjoying the cruise than the ports because I've been to those stops many times before. Sure wouldn't turn down any opportunities for snorkeling or scuba, however. ;)

I've been on the Miracle before which is a Sporit Class ship; but not the Spirit itself. There are some things about the ships layout I like and other things I don't like. I really enjoyed the adults only pool area they had in back.
