Eurodam June 2010 - Cat SC

We've just booked a Northern Europe cruise on the Eurodam for June 9, 2010. We booked an SC suite, but could not get a suite number...only

the word "Guaranty".

What at the SC suites like? Do they experience noise, vibration and soot being at the aft end of the ship? Does the varanda wrap around the side

of the ship?

Thanks

According to the website, SC cabins are deluxe verandah cabins--the best cabins on the ship short of the penthouses. Guarantee means that the specific cabin you will get has not yet been assigned (only the level of cabin, Deluxe Verandah in your case, is definite); therefore, you won't know the location of your cabin until you are assigned one. This will be shortly before boarding, I think--others with experience booking guarantee cabins would know; I always book a specific cabin (lower than a suite, so far).

The Deluxe Verandah cabins have a lot of great amenities (according to the website and posts on this board), so you should love it, no matter what specific cabin you get.

Happy cruising.

We sailed in SC 6175 in January. Aside from the very obnoxious upstairs neighbors (at least 10 people on the balcony, very often, very loudly, with a stereo system and many sloshed drinks and cigarette butts...) it was a lovely cabin. Kind of a long walk from many things but we did not mind this at all. If proximity to the Neptune Lounge is important you should perhaps reconsider.

The separate bath and shower is a great feature as one person can shower while the other bathes (assuming you're traveling with someone you're THATCLOSE with...) thus expediting the getting-ready-for-dinner process.

The balcony is large and L shaped with great aft and side views... it is a little awkward (didn't find ourselves on the loungers much) but if you want a good view coming in or going out of port it is excellent.

We did not find the vibration to be particularly unpleasant. YMMV.

When we booked our SC suite on the Eurodam about 1 year out, we also were unable to get a confirmed suite number -- only Guarantees were available. We booked the guarantee and I kept checking the availability of suites. Within a couple of months there were specific SC suites available to book. We picked one out and told our TA and she was able to get it changed from Guarantee to a specific suite.

I recently sailed on the Eurodam in the Baltic and stayed in SC 4181. Supposedly, the SC suites are a little smaller than the SA and SB Suites due to the curvature of the ship, but there was ample space and we had a great cruise. There was never any issue of soot or other debris coming onto the verandah. The wraparound verandah was definitely a plus. It was nice seeing the sites from both angles!

The only downside to SC 4181 (and it's a small one) was that there is a window washing unit affixed to the side verandah. It's a little unsightly, but really was no problem. Enjoy the SC, they're great!
