Walking, climbing through the ruins- Allowed?

We are trying to decide which ruins to see in Progresso, but I would like to go to the ones you can explore the most. I'm spoiled after wandering through the Parthenon in Greece at will, which might not be allowed any longer. Chichen Itza may be off my list due to this. Any thoughts?

The moderate DZ ruins can be climbed on. And some at Uxmal. The larger pyramids are so steep I've thought climbing was banned because of Vertigo.
