Rental car in Bar Harbor? Good Idea?

Thought we'd rent a car in Bar Harbor, is it possible or even a good idea? There are 4 of us.

You could rent a car for your Bar Harbor visit. This will give you complete freedom to select what you want to see, do, and for how long. The downside is there are no car rental companies with offices in BH. The closest rental agency is located off island about 22 miles away at the Hancock County - Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) which is in the town of Trenton, Maine. The agency could be Enterprise, but I'm not 100% sure. No matter what agency it is, you will have to make arrangements before your visit.

What you will want is for the car to be delivered to the tender dock and when your visit is complete to be able to leave it there. The agency will do this because they have done it in the past.
