Dzibilchaltun - museum

I heard a long time ago that the small museum at the Dzibilchaltun ruins was closed for renovations. Does anyone know if it has re-opened? It's supposed to be great and DH and I are thinking about going there when we take our cruise next month.

Thanks,

It remains closed, with no opening date available. I would suggest the Museum of Anthropology in Merida ; it is quite beautiful and well done.

Just saw your reply - thank you very much for the advice! Such a shame that it is still closed.......:(

Yes it is a shame and a waste of a valuable resource. There is always political friction in this country between federal and state authorities in charge of culture and history and it seems that the museum has been dragged into that.

There is a new, hugely ambitious project being built right now and supervised by the same federal and state authorities at the entrance to Merida which will probably supercede the Dzibilchaltun museum.
