We very much enjoyed our 7 day Society island cruise on PG 4 years ago, followed by a week in Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa. We have booked ourselves on the 2 week Marquesas cruise this summer,:confused: as we really loved this part of the world and look forward to seeing Fatu Hiva this time.

 

Previously, when we were in Hiva Oa we did a day trip by sailboat to Tahuata, which was ok (about 1 hour's sailing from Hiva Oa), but we wonder why Paul Gauguin has switched Ua Huka for Tahuata. As far as we were concerned there was not enough on Tahuata to keep you occupied for more than an hour or two. There is a small village and a nice beach (with lots of sand flies) and that's about it. Are there any excursions available to go further afield?
