I booked Celebrity Equinox to Alaska for June 2023 S1 2128 on Resort Deck. After reading through the entire "S" class cabin post and reviewing the spreadsheet, I think I'm more unsure and have still have some questions. I've looked at several videos on cruisedeckmapper and youtube and it seems the overhang really hinders the view and makes the space feel very enclosed, along with support poles coming down to further disrupt the view. With the lido deck above and the overhang I'm wondering if I made a bad choice. No other rooms available on starboard side. See pic of Equinox room 2126 I've attached. room right next to 2128. The picture feels so constricting.
I also booked a HAL cruise on Koningsdam in a Neptune Suite (refundable deposit). Price is almost identical and includes the same perks - wifi, drinks, tips etc. I think I prefer the itinerary of HAL slightly better, but not enough to sway my trip either way. I like the Equinox has balcony doors that slide open as opposed to Koningsdam doors open out.
I was so excited to score a suite in a price range that worked for me on Celebrity, I wish I had paid better attention as I wouldn't have booked it knowing location. I am bummed because I didn't pay attention to the deck plan and will lose my $500 deposit if I cancel, otherwise it's a good rate. Perhaps I need some reassurances, input, guidance.
I want to be able to sit on balcony and relax, take pictures and enjoy the view. Alaska has so much scenery high and low! If you'd had one of these rooms, did you feel hemmed in, constricted? Where you able to take nice pictures? If anyone has some scenic photos you've taken from your sky suite balcony please share. And any pictures from a seated position would be helpful.
