  1. Ok guys, so I think some of yous (NY accent impression) in the know have been holding out on me and didn't mention how spectacular Venice will be! The drive from Ravenna was about 2 hrs 15 min with a private car hire. Our hotel is right on the Grand Canal and is spectacular and pretty fancy! But that doesn't keep Watson from goofing off. We have three nights here with two tours that should be great. I'll report on those later.
  2. Thank you and I'm very to sorry to hear you lost a friend in VT Cruiser. God Bless her in heaven. She's sounds like a good person!
  3. Thank you very much for your kind comments and for following along!
  4. Ah ha! Now I know why the Cruise Director, Sue, wore white one evening at the theater and mentioned something about white! Thank you for sharing!😆 Honestly, if she hadn't of worn white and said something about it, I would not of noticed. I think most of the passengers missed the memo, or just didn't give a white woopie. Having said that, I just looked at the pitter patter for that day 4 (yes, I packed them) and it makes no mention of white night. Perhaps it's not something they advertise.
  5. I would have done it ions ago had I known. Glad you know Jim. Haha
  6. Funny you should ask that as just last night on our last night we discussed how incredibly smooth the sailing was. We were on deck 8 further aft because I actually like the back and forth rocking while sleeping, but I think I felt it only once and very slightly the entire time. I changed our motion patch every 2 or 3 days as we anticipated high winds, saw some white caps, and still felt little to none. I think the stabilizers on the ship must be fantastic. I posted a link to some motion sickness patches a short time ago and you may want to invest, but honestly, I think we could have done without but better safe than worry. And this comes from someone who cruised the North Sea with Viking last year! What a ride! Happy to answer any more questions.
  7. Oh thank you! I couldn't figure that out! I tried many times!
  8. Ravenna was intended to be a "chill" stop compared to the larger cities with more tourists. It met our expectations. Watson calls these type of days, even when not cruising, sea days. Did you know there is such a thing as sea days while not cruising? Rhetorical question. Ravenna is known for its stunning mosaic architecture. Our R&B helped by giving us a local map, a restaurant list, and appropriately circled areas of interest. Its not a large area, and it's flat for walking. We purchased a bundled package for seeing the main sites with 2 of them timed entry. No problem. The others were on our own based on opening hours which proved to go rather late. Great place to browse and relax on a "sea day". Happy to answer any questions. Fire away...
  9. You gotta give up to Watson for being a great guy...again! So far, he has rescued someone's cruise card after falling out of his pocket in Sorrenti and Watson picked it up off the ground and gave it back. The clumsy fellow said, that's the 4th time that's happened. Now folks, if it were me, I might have suggested he put it in a safer place, like tucked in his wife's bra or something, but Watson simply waved and left. Then he finds a 5 EUR note on the ground and gives it Fabrizio as we were touring. Then he rescues someones hat flying out of a tuk tuk. THEN, here in Ravenna, we are in a gift shop and I see him at the register waving a credit card that I don't recognize. What are you doing, I yell at him from across the gift shop?! I'm giving it the sales representative as I just found it on the floor. Next thing I know, as we continue shopping, a woman approaches Watson talking quickly in Italian and the only word I understand is "card". So we nod yes and point to the floor, and she responds "Sanks you". To which I say "Prego". You know, like the pasta sauce. 🤗😃
  10. Oh, but you are paying attention! 😆 And thanks for your kind comments and for following along! I recommend practicing it at home! Sometimes, pushing the button could catch a finger if you have it placed on the floor, and it could be awkward pushing the button. If on the floor, most cameras allow you to simply hold you hand over the screen while standing just slighly bending and with your fingers slightly apart and then you will see the seconds count down and remove your hand, stand tall, and it will automatically snap. Less yoga moves necessary if you use the hand trick. 😆 The alternative is to simply put it on selfie, hold the camera facing up straight out in front of you, tilt it until you get the right balance, and then click the photo with your finger. Just remember, that trick requires more of a steady hand, but not too bad. Anyway, on to some Ravenna commentary and photos! Enjoy your cruise with smooth sailing and safe travels!
  11. Question just to see if you remember. I know the answer is a few pages back. In the Casa Masoli photos I recently posted, there is almost a perfectly balanced photo of a ceiling and the bottom of a chandelier. How would you take a photo like that? BTW, it's ok if you don't want to play along...just something a little different.
  12. Thank you very much for your super kind comments! You might notice the humor gets better after a little ninjaing. It why I look for those powers noon, at the latest. 😆 Seriously, I wish you nothing but a fantastic cruise of smooth sailing and safe travels!
  13. I know, right!? With breakfast! At first, I was hoping I didn't waste another night I could of had in Venice. But we love the R&B and the town! It will be tough to decide which of pickapakiluion photos I'm taking to post!
  14. Sooo...we continue on with an overnight in Ravenna before proceeding to Venice for three nights. We arranged for a private driver thru our Ravenna R&B for transportation from the port. We booked Casa Masoli and are very happy with the accommodations. I thought it a reasonable price at 140 EUR for a suite big enough to fit a whole friggin' Roll Call. Just think how many times you could split the cost! It would practically be free!😆 Here are a few photos. I'll post some of the town later as I'm hoping for some good night shots if we can manage to stay up that long!...
