Last minute vs. Wave runner season sales

My wife and I live in Seattle and we are planning a September cruise to Alaska that leaves from here. Our jobs are flexible enough that we can book less than two weeks out. Is it better to take advantage of the wave runner season sales on the line sites or wait until last minute and book thru a vacations to go or *********** site?

Am I right in saying Alaska cruise tend to to be sold out quite in advance? We took ours in 2007 and booked in June for the last cruise of the season (September) and choices was very low!!!
