YooperGale Posted April 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2007 Hi, We will be in Vancouver for a few days before our cruise. I know we can just put meals on our credit card, but will we need Canadian cash for the taxi from the airport to the hotel? Thanks, Gale
spirit bear Posted April 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2007 Your money is very welcome in Vancouver. You don't have to bring Canadian money with you. Here's some info for you from the Airport page: Getting to and from Vancouver International Airport Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is located on an island west of the city of Richmond , to the south of Vancouver . Downtown Vancouver is about 30 minutes drive away, longer during peak traffic periods. The airport is accessible by car (pick-up and drop-off or short-stay parking and long-stay parking options). Taxi services are available, limousines, city bus services and the YVR airporter bus. Taxi from Vancouver Airport Taxis from YVR to downtown Vancouver cost about $25 including taxes. More information on Taxis in Vancouver YVR Airporter The YVR Airporter express bus service links the airport and hotels in downtown Vancouver . Reservations are not required. Fare prices (available from hotels or the bus driver): One Way / Round Trip Adult $12.00 / $18.00 Child 5 to 12 years $5.00 / $10.00 Senior $9.00 / $17.00 Family of 2 Adults and 2 Children 16 years and under $24.00 / $36.00 Telephone 1-800-668-3141 Limousines from Vancouver airport Taking a limousines from the airport to Vancouver costs about $35 and can be collected at the front of the airport by the taxi ranks. ldog Posted April 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2007 You don't HAVE to have Canadian dollars - everyone will take your US dollars but be aware that you will get change in Canadian and not the correct exchange rate. You can easily get CDN$$ at an ATM at the airport.
Chmie Posted April 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2007 I would also suggest getting some Canuck bucks from an ATM. US cash is readily accepted but most businesses screw you on the exchange vs a bank. Enjoy Vancouver and surrounding area. :)
