kruzin' Posted November 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2007 :) looking for help ...arriving in Heathrow 12;30pm need suggestions on how to get to a B-n-B in Dover pre-cruise not breaking the bank and by train if at all possible over taking a bus. I know national rail is the train company but does National express run buses from LHR to dover? thanks
elphin Posted November 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2007 Yes, you can a bus from the main coach ststion to Dover. You will enroute get to see central London. Not the fastest way of getting to Dover but the most scenic and least expensive!
kruzin' Posted November 18, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted November 18, 2007 :) thanks for your ever so prompt reply...would you happen to have a web site and name for this main coach station? I was hating the thought that I might have to go into London to get out to Dover if you know what I mean...After a long flight from Fla. we might just need a wee snooze on the bus....thanks again Yes, you can a bus from the main coach ststion to Dover. elphin Posted November 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2007 Sorry, I didn't make it clear your bus from the airport will go to Victoria Coach Station and from there you will need to take another one to Dover. Buses from Heathrow run very frequently. The Dover timetable is found at: http://www.nationalexpress.com/destinations/timetables/007.pdf?CFID=17883851&CFTOKEN=20036860 and general Heathrow coach station information is available at: http://www.milesfaster.co.uk/information/heathrow-airport/heathrow-central-bus-coach-station.htm
handfordr Posted November 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2007 Your public transport options between Heathrow and Dover are discussed in detail here: http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_dover.htm
tony@stanton19.freeserve. Posted November 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2007 You may find this webpage useful http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_dover.htm It's really easy to get into London from Heathrow and if you use the Heathrow Express (most expensive but probably worth it) it's really quick. You will be in London within half an hour of getting out of arrivals. It is also really geared up for people with luggage. Apart from that, can't really help as we live 200 miles north of London so have no real experience of the London to Dover route. We drove down, stopping at Ashford overnight. The CC'ers from London will be able to give a more informed opinion. Don't worry about the transfer, you will enjoy it.
