Porter availability in Puerto Rico

I'm sure this is on here somewhere but my searches have come up empty. Does anyone know what time the porters are available to drop off luggage in Puerto Rico? We sail 11/1/14 and were hoping to drop off luggage early, do some sight seeing, then come back to the port to check in. Or would we even be allowed to do that? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Last year when we arrived at 11 am they were available and by the appearance of things (how many luggage pieces were already collected) they were working long before 11am.
