Manzanillo info please

We ve never been, wondering is there close to the ship dock area a main street with bars, restaurants? And is there a higher end hotel not too far on a nice beach to have drinks ? I saw photos of Las Hadas but it looks huge to walk around in. Any other input on what everyone likes to do there will be appreciated. We like to stay in town and not venture out of the ports we visit, thnx!

Been about 4 years since we were last there. The ship docks in the corner of an industrial port, then you can walk about a couple of hundred yards to the Malecon area. There were a few shops/bars/restaurants along the Malecon, but not much. One street ran perpendicular to the Malecon and had several shops on it. They all sold the same stuff you'll see at all the other ports.

There were a few resorts on the north end of the bay, but you would need to take a taxi. Unless you venture out, you'll only need a few hours to see it all.

Last time there we purchased an excursion after we got off the ship. Loaded up into the back of a "cattle truck" with benches. They stopped at what they called an iguana sanctuary, I called it an iguana refugee camp. Hundreds of iguanas there, all sizes and colors. Drove thru town a bit then went north a ways to a restaurant on the beach for several hours. Nothing fancy at all but our toes were in the sand. Then back to the dock. Think it was $25 including snacks and a drink on the beach.

maybe well just catch a cab to a nearby beach hotel resort...

@beatriz22 A relaxing day at a land resort may be your best option. Manzanillo seemed to be mostly a port of commerce, with a large container yard, a Mexican Naval facility, a rail terminus and little that might strike one as refined or intriguing. The shops all seemed to offer the same array of lower end clothing and trinkets. We found no galleries or restaurants of note. It is what it is. Not every stop can offer the expansive variety of options found in Puerto Vallarta. Cheers and have an enjoyable cruise.

its supposed to be really pretty though, Im sure it'll be nice, we ll run over to some nice resort and hang awhile I guess...
