Wifi on star breeze

The wifi strength really depends on where you are. At some points during our cruise, it was awesome. At other times, we couldn't even use it. Most ports have cafes/bars/etc. with free wifi that most of the time has a better signal than the ship.

The Wifi here on the Breeze is in general pretty good overall. Because the stateroom doors are quite solid they can block the signal, especially if your cabin is a distance from the nearest access point.

In terms of satellite connection, as we are currently in Europe, the signal is generally good most of the time, other than when it gets blocked by the mast (depending on our heading or position). Very rarely obstacles shoreside such as cranes (or when we are docked near Navy bases etc) will also block the signal. Sometimes we can switch to another satellite to resolve this issue, but at other times not, again depending on location etc.

The cost is quite high, but I wouldn't say any different from any other company that I am aware of. These days most of the cruise lines use MTN for their internet connection & Windstar is no different in that regard. The big bonus that Windstar has is far fewer passengers generally equals a better browsing experience overall!

Enjoy your cruise :-)

One other question. Is there only one price plan, or are there a couple of different ones depending on usage?

There are three internet plans available as follows:

200MB for $60

500MB for $120

or Unlimited for $250.

If its just for e-mail & the odd bit of browsing then 200MB should be enough.

If you use social media, browse regularly & do the odd picture upload then go for the 500MB option.

If you upload lots of pictures, send large e-mail attachments, use social media heaps & steaming (apps like skype & spotify etc) then the unlimited might be the way to go.

Just remember to check your device settings before coming on-board. Many guests complain that their MB's get used up when they 'didn't do anything'. In actual fact many devices such as ipads, phones etc will often download updates, patches / sync data to the cloud & all sorts in the background & you might not be aware of it!

It can be the same on PC's (anti-virus updates, java, windows updates etc etc), so always be sure to turn off as many of these as you can prior to using the internet on-board & you will save yourself some MB's :-)
