lke Posted July 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2006 I understand the drive from Denali to Kenai Princess Lodge is about 8-10 hrs. We thought we'd split the drive into 2 days. Is Wasilla a reasonable stopping point? Does anyone know of good lodging here? Does anyone have other suggestions for a half-way destination? LKE:rolleyes:
Chenega Posted July 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2006 Hands down, the best hotel is Best Western Lake Lucille Inn. Beautiful location just at the edge of Wasilla. Nice restaurant too with a great view of the lake. Website is http://www.bestwesternlakelucilleinn.com
lke Posted July 4, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted July 4, 2006 Thanks! I saw the Best Western and Alaska Grandview and wasn't sure which would be best. I appreciate your advice. Lke
Chenega Posted July 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2006 The Grandview is brand new but right on the highway. Best Western sits on the edge of Lake Lucille and is very peaceful. If you can, spring for a room with a lake view.
lke Posted July 8, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 8, 2006 That's good to know! In late August I imagine there'snotmuch traffic noise, but the lake and a view sounds wonderful!:)
KAYEF Posted July 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2006 Are you kidding? Late August is still packed up there...........if in doubt just check the cruise ships; they're still full. I'd drive farther south even though Wasilla is beautiful. Anchorage is 236 miles from Denali and Wasilla is 42 miles from Anchorage which means you'll only be 194 miles into your drive.
