Anyone stayed at the Winchester hotel in London?

Just looking for a little reassurance! We are considering booking the Winchester B & B hotel on our way through London. It is half the price of the Crowne Plaza St. James - but in my reading of the reviews and websites it has a lot going for it (same general area, includes a full breakfast, help with luggage if we can't manage stairs etc). Has anyone stayed there? They want a cash or bank draft deposit so would like to be sure before we commit.

Life's not good in low grade hotels.Help with luggage up the stairs,

pleeeease.At least find a Hotel with an elevator.

Maybe we better scrap this one from our list of possibilities! Seems like NO ONE has stayed there!

Thanks for your reply Karen. I always check out the hotels we are considering on Trip Advisor. Usually there is pretty good information considering their rankings are based on popularity, and the reviews could be written by someone who has only stayed in a few hotels in their life!

I have never stayed in a B&B type place before so was hoping to find out first hand about the Winchester. We still have lots of time - so i will keep checking back on T.A.

If you are referring to the Winchester Hotel close to Victoria Station, we spent 2 nights there in December 2005. Convenient location. Small rooms (typical of older European properties). Great British breakfast and very helpful staff. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
