T. Advisor King Posted August 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2012 I haven't been to this part of the site in a while, but I saw your open invitation to comment on Louis Cruises and thought I would -- even though your posting is a month and a half old. Even though most of my cruises have been on Carnival (due to price and home port location), my one Louis Cruise two years ago was probably my favourite. That trip was on the Aquamarine (no longer a part of the Louis fleet) and was very typical of the Louis itineraries. What I liked most was the mood and feel of the cruise. It was much more "international" than the larger mass-market cruises operating in the Mediterranean. I also had much less of a sense that they were trying to extract as much money in "extras" from me at every possible opportunity. They weren't pumping their casino, sales at on-board shops, or any sort of "art auction" through never-ending announcements. In short, they seemed to cater to my idea that a cruise should be about visiting destinations and relaxing on-board. Prices were fair. We took full advantage of their "kids sail free" pricing. Even their drink package was reasonable, so it wasn't a case where the only way it was economical was if you got hammered each day. The ship was simple and the amenities basic, but not spartan. They weren't trying to pretend (like most mass market cruise lines like to) that they are a luxury product. They are an affordable vacation and nothing about them is pretentious. If you check the "member reviews" section, you'll probably get as much information as you want about Louis Cruises.
