Hi Does Anyone know if the shuttle bus from port to Dublin is provided on the the Fred Olsen mini cruises as a matter of course? Can't seem to find out who provides the shuttle bus service. Also would taxis be available normally from the ship in the morning? Many thanks

Hi Does Anyone know if the shuttle bus from port to Dublin is provided on the the Fred Olsen mini cruises as a matter of course?

I don't know if Fred Olsen would organise shuttle buses , or if the port authorities do it. But it's probably no different for a Fred Olsen cruise than it would be for other companies. I think there are likely to be shuttle buses as ports don't usually like thousands of people wandering around unchecked. If so, those in Dublin would likely be buses from a mixture of different companies and they would charge you to use.

However, even if there are shuttle buses, you may also have the option of walking out of the port (as the cruise ships are not in same area as the ferries etc). If you are allowed to walk out, then it is only 2.5 km of a straight walk up to O'Connell Street (main street in Dublin city), heading alongside the River Liffey on the quays ........(of course that is if your ship is docked in Dublin Port rather than Dun Laoghaire).

In Dublin Port the cruise ships will either be on north side of the Liffey - Alexandra Basin; or the south side of the Liffey - at Marine Terminals Ltd.

Either way, Dublin City Port is fairly near other transport too :

the Luas line (tram) http://www.luas.ie/interactive-map.html - the red line terminus stop at The Point / Gibson Hotel ;

Busáras (the main bus station for the "rural" bus company "Bus Eireann") which is on Store Street ( & the red line of Luas stops at this too);

Connolly (Train Station) on Amiens Street.

(The Luas - stops on the red line = http://www.luas.ie/luas-red-line-stops/ ).

And this line of the Luas has a stop very near O'Connell Street (the Abbey Street stop).
