"Turn around day" tour

We will be docking at the Pan Am pier on a b2b cruise with RCCL. Since we really want to go to El Morro I figured that taking a taxi would be the best way and we would go there first. I've been looking at several walking tour suggestions and can't seem to get my directions clear in my mind. We want to walk on the walkway below the fort. How do we get there from the fort? Where should we go from there? Again, we will be at the Pan Am pier. Note: We've been to OSJ & Fort San Cristobal before on a tour but wouldn't mind seeing some historical sites again within walking distance. We'll take a taxi back to the ship. Thanks for any info you have to share :)

Well, after a lot of research on the boards (thanks Cruise Critics!) I found some of the answers I was looking for. Just thought I would share in case some others are planning a DIY tour from the Pan Am pier. From El Morro we are going to walk to the cemetery & back. Then we'll head towards the San Juan Gate stopping at various sites suggested on several walking tour maps, go through the Gate & walk the Paseo de El Morro towards the Fort & back :)
