peanutgirl Posted June 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2008 Do they have a week pass as in NYC so you can go unlimited for a certain number of days? How much does it cost to use the tube? A newbie here any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
c-to-sea Posted June 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2008 There are several options for transportation in London. If you just want transport, the Oyster card is the most flexible and very economical. If you want to include admissions to attractions, there are 3 and 5 day cards that cover both. We used the Oyster last month since most of what we wanted to do was not enough to warrant the cost of the 3 or 5 day card. It worked at to just over GBP5 per day per person for unlimited tube, bus and Docklands Light Railway. The only caution with Oyster is you MUST remember to swipe it as you leave the tube and DLR stations or you will incur a penalty. (Not necessary to swipe off buses) Here is the link: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/default.aspx
DavidandPaula Posted June 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2008 You might also want to check out the London Pass with travelcard option by googling LondonPass. We had a 6 day London pass with a seven day travel card. Booked it and had it sent to us months before our trip. When we arrived at Heathrow at 5:30am we already had our train ticket to get into London (not the heathrow Express however but the normal train was very fast and we were through customs and at our hotel in Bayswater by 7:30am) Travelcard expired on the day we left London and flew to Rome. Marebear Posted June 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Be very careful to see that your tube pass does not come in contact with a credit card or an ATM card. They all will be stripped!
