Hi all!

Just curious, Explorer of the Seas current itinerary between a few sea days, Portland, Boston, Bar Harbor, St. John & Halifax, it shows it pretty close to land almost the whole time. What has been your experience with getting cell reception while out at sea between ports?

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't count on getting an ATT signal when you're off the coast. You won't see land from the ship between ports. Your phone will probably latch on to the ship's Cellular At Sea service before it picks up an ATT signal.

The ATT maps may show "coverage" throughout New England and Maritime Canada, but that does not indicate the quality of reception. Heck, I live only 2 miles from Nashua, New Hampshire (where it's a full-strength signal) and my ATT reception is 1-bar at best and drops out constantly. I can't imagine the signal being any better within 3 miles of shore between cities.

If your phone latches on to service in Canada, you will be charged at international rates, which are very expensive.

You might want to look at ATT's Cruise Ship Package:
