Shopping / Lunch in West End???

We're planning for our cruise stop in Roatan to be our "low activity" stop of the cruise. From reading other posts, it looks like Coxen Hole is NOT the place for shopping and lunch. West End looks like it might be the place. Can anyone offer comments on the shopping and the restaurants there? Also, I would like to know what to expect for a taxi ride there.
