Anyone stopped in Porto Belo recently?

We're going on our first SA cruise in February and we're researching ports. We've read that there is a German village, Blumenau, near the port of Porto Belo - does anyone have any recent info? About how far is it from the port and is it worth the drive? Anything else to do in that port? I've read that there might be some nice beaches nearby, which is great, but it seems like there might be several beach days on this itinerary. We love the beach, don't get me wrong, but I may never get to SA again, so if there's other stuff to see, we'll probably do that first.

You can probably get a good idea of what Blumenau is like from videos on YouTube. It's about an hour and a quarter (about 60 miles) from Porto Belo, iirc.
