Dune Buggy tour through Carnival??

Ok I will keep this as short as I can, I am long winded.

My group wants to do the Dune Buggy/ruins tour in Progreso. Now I have read several bad reviews and I am still on the fence. What I would really like to know is once they drop us off at the beach(which I am assuming is the Reef) can we get AI once we are there?

We did that one a couple of years ago and were not really impressed. The beach was 3rd class and we did not enjoy it at all. The buggies were ok, but all in all not too much to see.

Google Reef Yucatan and I think you'll find the price for their day pass is more costly than booking, with transportation at the pier.

Get out and see something, is my advice! Go to Merida and visit a cantina and walk around the centro. Go see and swim in a cenote. Visit a Mayan ruin. Lots to see and do in the Yucatan beyond yet another all-inclusive experience. Be a traveler, not a tourist! Have fun and make memories. :)

Anybody found an independent buggy operator in Progreso? I love these tours and then hang out at a beach but could not find any other info than the cruise ship's
