Westerdam 2/6-2/13 Cruise Review

We would have written sooner but I couldn't seem to get on to post my new thread until now.

We arrived at the pier from Ft. Lauderdale Airport about 11:30a.m. Sunday morning 2/6. We notified an attendant that I needed a wheelchair, (I can't stand for long periods of time since I had back surgery) it was promptly and cheerfully provided. The check-in was fast with a minor computer glitch which was resolved the next day. We proceeded to the Lido Deck where we had a good lunch in a clean, well decorated environment. I will probably repeat this throughtout the review as the ship's staff were excellent, friendly, helpful, never indifferent to our needs. Though we were told we couldn't enter our cabin until 3:30pm., by 1:30pm we were allowed in. The cabin was nicely furnished, plenty of storage space, plenty of hangers, a large bathroom with tub and a nice size balcony. Our cabin number as 6132. The only negative point of the cabin was the TV was on the desk. Should have been mounted on the wall instead. Our cabin attendant was nicknamed "Junnu", always had our cabin spotless. Everytime we left our room we would return and find our bed remade and our room straightened up with fresh towels. We ordered room service every morning around 6:30am. We had coffee and rolls on our balcony. The person who delivered our tray would be very cheerful. We sure do miss that every morning!!!!!!!!

They did show the Super Bowl that Sunday on a big big screen and served

wings and snacks for everybody that attended. Sorry Eagles we were cheering for you. The evening shows were entertaining and varied, perhaps a little too short mop. We even won $22.00 at the casino! One nite they had a non-smoking time at the casino, but at large it really wasn't that smokey as we had feared. One major drawback seemed to be the lack of coordination on the part of the cruise director. As an example our traveling companions went to one club after the show and were enjoying themselves when the bartender began flicking the lights on and off a signal for them to leave by 12 o'clock! We were in the Crow's Nest with a nice size crowd about midnite and the band just got up and left. We found them drinking in another club. One extra comic show was squeezed in the Queen's Lounge while the Main Theater remained empty. Just seems not alot of effort or thinking goes into the planning. There were a few lame pool games but not much memorable. Very crowded pool area almost seems like the ship is too small for the number of people. More to follow.........
