What is available to buy?

We will be going to Progreso at the end of July. I have heard that you should do your shopping there, as it is cheaper than Cozumel. I am interested in vanilla, jewelry, and liquor. Are these items available in Progreso? Has anyone bought anything in Progreso that they thought was a really good buy? We are going to Cozumel first, then to Progreso the next day. Thanks for your help!

There is not Diamond Iternational or any other cruise port chain stores. In Merida you can buy silver jewelry at fair prices. I don't remember seeing any liquor stores in Progreso but I'm sure you can find tiquila. This is not a mini-Cozumel or Cancun. I'm sure you can find vanilla but no cheaper than in Cozumel.

Thankfully, Progreso, Merida and the Yucatan State have not be spoiled.
