Any other ports you’re willing to sacrifice? Just imagine all the FCC you might get if they cancel the next 3-4 ports?

Personally, we prefer going to the ports as advertised. Never been to Saguenay. Can one fly or drive there from the Midwest for $500 to see the missed port?

They cancelled Saguenay out of what they felt was a necessity.  According to their "Contract" with us, they didn't really have to offer any compensation, but they are.  I realize it substitutes an extra sea day for a port, but we will live with it and enjoy the rest of the cruise.

We were on the VISTA for the transalantic London to NYC followed by a three night stay in NYC and then Insignia NYC-Burmuda_NYC.  On both ships we had to open the door to hear the announcements.  We were told if set of Channel 25 you can hear them on the TV.

Perhaps the hall speaker was outside your door?

The very important announcements are broadcast into the staterooms as well as the rest of the ship.  The less important ones are not broadcast into the staterooms.  Vista's management makes that decision.

Check with O or your TA. Most FCCs cannot be applied to cruises you already have booked.

I did have my TA check with O and was told it can be applied upon request with some paper work, as long as the cruise is not yet fully paid for.  My future cruises are just deposits, with the first final payment due in late November, and this will reduce that payment by $1000.  By the way, if you book a future cruise while on board, you will receive an extra $100 OBC and a lower deposit requirement.

Yup. We are on the next cruise on Vista when you get off the ship and they just cancelled it on our cruise as well. Gave us $500 FCC. I would much prefer $100 OBC.

I prefer the $500 FCC, as we have have other cruises already booked which this can be applied to.  That saves $1000 for us.  In that case, I can sacrifice Saguenay.

  5. We will be going on the Marina on April 19, 2014. We arrive at the airport that morning at 5:30 am from LAX, having booked our own flight on Air Tahiti Nui. After taking a taxi to the city, does anyone know when we would be able to drop off our luggage at the port, and then explore Papeete (or take a quick tour). The ship sails at 11 pm, and I understand we can't board until 3 pm. Is the ship right near the waterfront shopping area listed on the map???
