  1. 'free' drink package on ncl isn't so free.

Agreed. I priced a 4 day Bahamas cruise for 2 on NCL and carnival. I added drink package on Carnival to my final total. NCL was $50.00 cheaper. I would rather cruise Carnival for $50.00 more. Better selection of drinks in my opinion.

  2. I am probably just blind, but on the Deck Plan for Lido, I don't see the 2 bars that are normally on most ships, near the Triton Pool. Can anyone confirm if there are bars there or not? I do see the one at the back of the ship on Lido for the Sirens bar.

    Thanks!

  3. I tend to buy most of my specialty drinks (ie, mixed, martinis, etc.) from the Casino bar. On the 1st day of the cruise in the evening I will tip $20.00 to one of the bartenders at the casino bar. Even if there is a line, if he/she sees me waiting, that drink usually comes without even asking throughout the rest of the cruise. At the other bars, I sometimes tip an additional 1.00, depends on attitude of the bartender.

  4. We're also cruising on Jan 17th! So excited and ready!

I noticed the Fun Times mentioned mosquitos in Freeport and Nassau...were they bad to the point where you did wear long sleeves? Was that everywhere (beach etc)

    Thanks again for the PDFs

I didn't notice them that bad, but it was also raining both days in ports, so that might have had something to do with it. I wore shorts and tshirt along with everyone else.

I did notice a lot of Bees in Freeport near shrubs and things. Also, there were a lot on the lido deck because of the sweet drinks being made. No one got stung, but just be aware.

  5. I have attached the Funtimes for all 4 days for Sensation for Bahamas. Day 3 of Nassau is missing the side strip, sorry.

I am posting these because I know I am one of those people that wanted just an idea of what was going on before hand. I tried looking for some for 6 months before the cruise and never found anything current.

    Enjoy! Hope it helps someone!

Ok, just got off the Sensation today and my couch is swaying, LOL.

Anyways, this is what I did. When we got on the boat, I went to straight to guest services to ask for 2 extra keys, 1 for each room. We had connecting cabins. I kept a key and gave my oldest son a key. We then went straight to Lido deck where I purchased the Cheers package. (the lady did ask if anyone else was in the cabin over 21, and I said no as it was my youngest son.)

When we finally got to the rooms, my wife and I stayed in one and kids in another. I had to use the "extra" key to get into our room and my son had to use his "extra" key to get into their room.

Never had a problem the whole cruise.

    Hope this helps!

  7. Good afternoon!

We are home and unpacked from our 2nd Thanksgiving cruise. I am not doing a more "formal" review, with pics and all. I just wanted to share a few things, and answer any questions people may have.

Carnival is very strict on NO PLASTIC BOTTLES! Canned soda/water only! We saw them taking several items people were bringing on that were in plastic bottles.

I noticed was the new room service menu. Come to find out they are "testing" this menu out to see if they keep it or not. They have the same items as before (sandwiches, cookies, etc.) but also now have a nominal fee menu. We did order from it. They had "totally awesome wings" with different seasonings to choose from $5.00, "chicken fingers" with honey mustard and bbq sauce $5.00, "killer chicken quesadilla" $5.00, "spicy fried firecracker shrimp" $6.50, "pan pizza" (cheese or pepperoni) $5.00, cobb salad $4.00, "authentic philly cheesesteak" $5.00, and side of fries $1.50.

We ordered the wings and chicken fingers first, and then after being out all day in Nassau, we came back and ordered the pizza, quesadilla and side of fries as a snack.

Secondly, the ship was rocking and rolling big time on Thursday. Even to the point of me getting sick which has never happened except 1 other time in all the 20 cruises we've done.

We did a tour of Nassau with Aqua Island Tour's which is done by Simply Dave. He was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

We noticed the workers always cleaning, touching up things, etc. The food was good in the MDR, but was not really impressed with the servers. We never went into the buffet for anything. It was either room service, MDR, the omelet station or the Mongolian Wok.

Thanks for the info, I have a couple of questions. Did the Room service menu still have the stuff that you don't pay for?

Also, was this a 3 or 4 day cruise? We leave on Sunday for a 4 day, and I was wondering what night formal night was?

    Thanks!

  8. This is exactly what we plan to do. We booked one child and one adult per cabin. The kids will have their own room and mom and dad directly across the hall. I'm buying Cheers. He isn't. Waste of money for him. Our cruise isn't until next year though.

Well, I will report back in a little over a month and let you know how that worked out then. :)

  9. On my last cruise, people who wanted the Cheers program were booked together, regardless of who they were actually planning on rooming with. Once on board, after the cheers had been purchased, we went to guest services and swapped rooms so our keys would actually open the room we were staying in. We played musical cabins for a couple hours, but once we got to guest services they told us it wouldn't interfere with anyone's accounts, including Cheers.

So I am guessing that worked ok? My DW and I booked 2 rooms, 1 of us in each with 1 son. She doesn't drink, but I was going to buy the package and then switch rooms to "our" room and then the kids can be in one. Think that will work?

  10. Everyone 21 & over booked in the same cabin has to purchase Cheers if anyone wants it. So it doesn't matter what rate or anything you booked under. Best workaround I know is to have a couple of kids and book one in each cabin with an adult. Like we just did:D

Won't be worth it for DH to get it, but I think I will.

Just curious if you have already taken the cruise? I am in the same scenario I in my room with my son, under age of 21 and my wife in room with our son, under 21. She doesn't drink, but I do. So I plan on buying the package, and unofficially staying in her room so the kids can be together.

Is that what your plan is?

  11. Boy you have done it now...DW has looked at the cruise you booked, Mar 4, 2017 and the cruise the week before, Feb 25th, 2017 and the prices are incredible! She now wants to book both :D Got you to thank for that!! :D :D

Trust me, I didn't plan on booking either, but when I saw how cheap that harmony cruise was for a balcony, I couldn't pass it up. and at half deposit, it was a no brainer.

  12. I added it last night. (after a lot of back and fourth thinking) Saved $200 on two premium packages. Regular $800 paid $600

I'm diamond but my drinking habits on holiday have me day drinking. Very little at night. All those mojitos and Miami Vice's were running through my head last night. (I was on hold over an hour to add it:eek:)

I'll add, I booked BOGO50 with a Balcony discount on FREE TAX day along with a TA free gratuity and I am paying exactly what I paid for the same itinerary on the Navigator in 2007 for just the cabins alone. BUT..............with the packages that fare INCLUDES drinks. 2007 I had a $600 bar tab. and $200 in general gratuity. There is a season differance. Sept rates are lower then March rates.

I am a newbie to Royal...when you buy the drink package ahead of time, do you pay for it all at once? Or is it like the cruise and you can make payments? Thanks!
