You mean you thought you could walk around wearing a mask around your chin and not get challenged on it? Really? I think we've all had long enough to find a comfortable mask by now

It is not the comfort of the mask. I wore a mask more on any single day on this cruise than I had the previous 12 months. I really feel sorry for those who cower. Notice how wrong the ‘science’ will be exposed to be.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you said, but are you saying you went on a cruise knowing what the rules were, and then was upset that you were being told to raise your chin diaper?

You are right, I knew the rules, it was those obsessed with compliance that spoiled it. In the main theater, when the cruise director recited the rules, there were those in the audience pointing (just short of standing and shouting) at those without their masks up.
Our cruise was the most days for us,18. The last 5 sea days back broke me. I’m done until it is STATED I can go with no mask. I feel sorry for those who have this fear, just don’t make live like you.

So what was the outcome of reporting ship's crew that wasn't enforcing the cruise line policy? They started to enforce it?

It was very hard to get the point of your other post. Its less than clear in this post.

The center pool has the covering open, essentially becoming outdoors. Rules are ‘masks unless you are ACTVIELY eating or drinking’.  Standing around the burger stand waiting for an order, we were instructed by what appeared to be an officer to put on our masks.
Our first afternoon on board, I chatted with a server about the mask standards. He told us he was instructed to NOT make an issue of the mask. After witnessing the Customer Service incident (first hand, the person in front of me) everywhere the staff was afraid of being turned in. Returning from the rear pool, a staffer ‘reminded’ us while we were still 10-15 feet from the door! Like they were collecting points.

  4. Got back from San Diego to Hawaii r/t on Konigsdam. Except we whitenesses someone turn in a list of names of officers and staff that were not actively enforcing masks. The following 16 days were wasted. The staff tried desperately to please us, but the ‘pull your mask up’ ruined it all. When we returned we cancelled Alaska and stopped looking at transatlantics.
    Wait until restrictions are dropped.

  5. Just got back 18 day Hawaii Konigsdam cruise. Room 4185, four doors down from quarantine area. They are in a secured hallway so no risk. 6 of our 18 days were too cold to enjoy the huge veranda, so I don’t see the benefit of it in Alaska.
    a couple of pointers:

if you don’t like paper straws, bring your own.
if you hate wearing masks, reschedule till after mandate is lifted.

Our May Alaska cruise has already been canceled. Wait on those air ticket.

  6. How early can we plan on flying out of Seattle? I know The airport is not close to the port, and we will need to factor morning Commute traffic. Flying back to FL, so mid afternoon departure is essentially a red-eye for us.

    thank you for your help.
