  1. I have been on Carnival cruises where the magic or comedian act is usually just one performance at 9pm. So the late diners would either have to rush or miss the show.

    Dave

We were on the Conquest in May, and we had 8 pm dining in Monet. (There was even a later one at 8:15!) We saw both the magician and the comedian and it was not at 9 pm. I don't recall when, but there was never a show we could not attend on this cruise, and I don't recall any other cruise (8 others on different lines) that we had to miss. I do know that some of the entertainment, and it may have been the magacian and comedian, was BEFORE dinner... I'd have to check my Capers.

Now about the music in the Bars... we normally didn't do that, except when cruising with a group, and we hit the karaoke and bar late.

Oh, and about getting seats, yes sometimes a show can be quite crowded, other times not... but we never had to be turned away because of a crowd. Now a "decent seat" is another story. A few times if you arrive late, yes they are hard to come by.

I guess it's all about preference. What's important to one cruiser is different from the rest. When we traveled with friends in a group, sometimes we preferred to miss the show and go to a bar to drink before dinner. Again, it depends on the ships' schedules and what they have to offer. Getting a copy of the Capers (Carnival) or anyother cruise agenda beforehand might be helpful if you have questions about the entertainment onboard and what time you would like to schedule your dinner around it. I actually never thought about doing that, but that sounds as if it would be a good idea in the future! :)

  2. Just an FYI on the shows. We have always done late seating but never missed any shows. Unless we decided they didn't interest us. Sometimes they have an "early" show BEFORE dinner for the late diners. This would be a time where, if we wanted to attend that show, we did have to get ready earlier than we normally did, but sometimes we didn't want to attend that show anyway. Late diners never miss a show. It's just set at a different time, before dinner instead of afterwards. Keep in mind, this doesn't happen all of the time all week. Your Capers will post the adjustment for these few. Otherwise, the shows are late, after dinner. If you are not late night people, then you might consider early dinner if you want to attend all of the shows. My husband and I, even all of the groups we've cruised with, have always liked the late dinner, late show, occasional early show before dinner schedule.

  3. Hey everyone! We are starting to get really excited about our first cruise. I do have a question, though.

We put down that we wanted the early dining because all of us normally eat around five-ish but now we started wondering if that was a very smart thing to do. We are in mountain time and are afraid that we are going to be eating at three-ish which doesn't sound very dinner-ish to me.:D Do you choose your dining time based on the regular time that you eat at home or for some other reason. At 5:45 on the ship wouldn't it be like eating at 3:45 for us or am I thinking backwards? :p

Also, along these same lines.. how does eating in the dining room work for breakfast and lunch. Do you have specific hours that you can eat in the dining room? .

potato... another thing to consider about your dining time... we have always booked the LATE seatings on all of our cruises and we never eat late at home. But we always considered that we are more active on the cruise vacation and liked to get back to the ship with some "down time", sit in the jacuzzis, by the pool, nap whatever... gave us more time to get ready instead of rushing back and getting dressed right away. On one Celebrity cruise they had a fantastic tea near the pool with little finger sandwiches etc every day when the ship would set sail from the port we visited. We would sit there and have a little appetizer until we could get ready for late dinner. Oh, and you can always change your seating once onboard. They are usually very accomodating. Hey, you might get onboard and find that you're at a different seating anyway. It happens to a lot of people. Told and booked one thing, and once they get their docs or on the ship, it's a different story.

But.... if you have small children, that's another story. So consider all options and outside of what you normally do at home because remember... this is your vacation! Have fun!! It IS exciting and you will be hooked after this...:D

  4. I am sure this has been answered but I am going on the conquest in in 5 months - CANT WAIT - I love this thread it has all you need to know about the Conquest - AND MORE!!!

Anyway - my ??? is about transfers - for the sad sad trip back to airport to come home - has anyone ever booked a limo or shuttle transfer? Like I said I am sure this has been answered - I was just surfing through this thread - so I apoligize for the repeat.....THANKS!

alprice... we booked the transfer through Carnival for our May cruise and it was a breeze... I think it was $25 pp, it was a large bus, Greyhound type bus which shuttled us from the pier to Bush Airport. We booked the transfer with the booking of our cruise tickets. The transfer ticket was in our ticket documents. You can always contact Carnival about this directly if you have any questions.

  5. In Cozumel, Paradise Beach. This place is so great, so much stuff to do

    Have fun:D

I'm not sure if anyone here recommended Nachi Cocom Beach as well while in Coz. We loved it and LOVED the fact that it is NOT crowded at all. Very, very quiet. I parasailed, son jetskiied. We went through Island Marketing but I'm sure if you contacted them you could pay when you get there. All inclusive with beach, pool, drinks and lunch (which was a HUGE amout of food for us) And they couldn't have been any nicer there! Took a short cab ride there and no problem getting one back to the ship. In fact, my parents and son left earlier than us, and my husband and I shared a cab with 2 people from our ship who we met at the bar on the way out. Here's the link for Nachi Cocom Beach Club for all who may want something different away from the more crowded and touristy beach clubs.

Oh, and the deck calling thing... we were on deck 8, forgot the name... and we were called fairly early. My parents were all the way down on 2, Main or Lobby, can't remember, and they were almost called last. I agree with one of the posters here... it seems as if there is no rhyme or reason to it.

  6. Would like some comments on this room as well. We are on 4th Conquest cruise in Dec and have this room booked for the large balcony. PVP says stairs are emergency stairs and are not used (except in emergencies). Anyone had this room that could commment on the layout??

which cabin are you referring? If it's 8442, i can help.

  7. Greetings,

I was reading a recent review (on CC) about the Conquest Aft balcony-(I believe it was Deck 6- #6442), anyway the reviewer said that they did not have a couch in their cabin and was told that is had to be requested:confused: . Has anyone else experienced this? We are on the Conquest in November in an aft on Empress Deck:D and I thought the cabins had couches.

Thanks in advance and Happy Cruising:)

Hi CruiseBeauty... you may be posting about the Review I wrote about no couch in our cabin... we were in cabin 8442, aft but not all the way in the back... we did not have a couch. It was a HUGE room, king size bed, wall dressing table etc, with a stool at the desk, one chair, 2 small oval tables...3 wardrobe closets... when we called the desk, we told them we had 2 tables and only 1 chair. And we wondered about a couch since some of our family was on deck 2 with an ocean view and much smaller cabins and they had one to sit on. They DID say we had to REQUEST a couch... too funny... that has never happened to us before and we have cruised 8 times, on 4 different lines in much smaller cabins and most had a couch/loveseat... without a request, and a cheaper/lower grade room... so I don't know what was up with our cabin... there sure is room enough for one, or at least for more than 1 chair! The balcony is twice the length of the other cabins on that deck too. We had 3 outside deck chairs there and actually brought one of the plastic chairs in until someone brought us 2 other nicer indoor chairs to use for our week. They should just leave them in there! And again, we still had tons of space. The reason we wanted one was because when we would sit with family for a while, getting dressed or waiting to leave for dinner, only one of us could sit in the 1 chair and the other/s had to sit on the bench or bed... we didn't need it to sleep on. Just for sitting, conversing, have a few drinks without sitting on the bed. We weren't in the cabin much, but when we were, it would have been nice.
