  1. My house is cleaned from top to bottom.

My wash basket is empty, all clothes ironed and put away, all my bills are paid for the next few weeks away BUT! I have a 20 year old daughter still living at home and she has OCD. So she sets about bleaching every where, even cleans my oven and hob with a tooth brush, then she's on her hands a knees bleaching my kitchen and bathroom floor, cleans and polishes my suit, washes all my paint work down and I never come home to any of her washing as she always does it.

Should go away more often haha

  2. I think this could be the couple on the Vision of the Sea Transatlantic.

They boasted that they had withdrawn the OBC to pay for a future cruise voucher.

The following day, while we waited to ask for an "open" form, the same couple were seeking to purchase a future cruise voucher.

Seeking an edge, and I quote "At the end of this cruise we would have 69 points, but if we purchase a future cruise voucher now, could we have an extra point to make us 70 points on this cruise, so we can immediately use the Diamond Lounge":eek::eek:

    I walked away in disgust.

They actually now let this type of person on a cruise.

    They were English.

    .

No they were not English and it was on The Independence Of The Seas ( transatlantic ) I remember her telling me but at the time I never twigged to her explanation about why, iv only just realised today as to why she had done it.

  3. Hi , CAROLESS honestly you came across as trying to help me. I never took it any other way.

I think the couple we met told RCI to take there tips off, and at the end of the cruise they tipped themselves in cash to who they wanted too.

I now remember them saying it does work out cheaper and that's the reason why they did it their way.

Thanks for all your help and advice and I'm sure I will have lots more questions to ask.

    Many thanks

    Jackie

  4. Hi CaroleSS and dkjretired, I would not dream of removing my automatic gratUities, also we did tip extra at the end of my cruise in cash to a few staff that we felt in our opinion deserved it.

The couple we talked with dkjetired said they won't let RCL tell them who they have to tip and that they would tip themselves at the end of the cruise who they thought deserved it.

I never said I had a complaint SAIL7SEAS, In any event if I did I would speak up for myself to resolve the matter!

Yes we are new to cruising ( don't know why we didn't do it earlier ) and yes I do get confused about cruising, let's face it there's a whole lot of information on these boards, but if you do not have an opinion of what I would do or not do id prefer it if you kept your opinions to yourself!

    Take care

  5. Hi, when we were on our last cruise we pre paid our gratuities.

We got friendly with a couple and they said that they had been to the purser desk and asked for their gratuities to be removed.

I would not dream of doing this myself but I was just thinking how does this work?

They also said that they just turn up to the MDR at what ever time they wanted, I thought you had to pay up front gratuities to dine at your own time.

We have also pre paid for our next cruise but this just sticks in my mind as to how some people do different things on cruises.

Feel like I have a tons of more stuff to learn on here but this is just something that just keeps niggling away in my mind.

    Many thanks

  6. Hi, we're doing our 2nd transatlantic in November again and can't wait.

My husband said last night why don't we go on a cheap holiday maybe June time? Just to break the year up. My reply to that was "why don't we do a cheapish 7 day cruise"? Much better idea I thought!

This is where I need help from you fantastic people.

Ideally as we live in England we'd like to sail from here, so, what cruise line should I be looking at?

Not even bothered where we go, would give a different cruise line a go (Only done 1 cruise with RC and our next one is with them too.)

Should we wait till nearer June and try and grab a cheap cruise or book now?

    Many thanks

    Jackie

  7. Yes, Jackie that's exactly it. You just look at the prices online for your cabin using a search engine online and if the prices fluctuate. They often do as part of flash sales.

If and when you notice a change and you haven't as yet paid your full fare in full, your TA can get you the difference as well as any incentives included like on board credit.

Just take a peek every few weeks and check, you might save yourself some money.

    Jonathan

I have only paid our deposit, rest to be paid by mid August.

Can I check any TA on line or does it have to be the one I use?

    Thanks for the advice

  8. Hi, this may sound dumb to some people but it's got me confused.

PRICE DROP I see this quite a lot on these boards and I understand what a price drop is but how do some people get their cruise cheaper.

I booked my next cruise with a TA so how do I know if they are asking a cheaper price?

Do I just look at the price I'm paying then watch for my TA advertising it cheaper? Does it have to be the same standard cabin? We got a deal on the pre paid tips, does that have to be in the cheaper price?

Can anyone help me as to shed some light on this please

  9. I do hope I'm wrong but is Independence Of The Seas not sailing from England anymore from 2015?

I hope she is as we want to do transatlantic next November 2015 then sail back on Queen Mary 2.

Oh please tell me I'm wrong.

I've also been told that she's not sailing anywhere in 2015 but even I know that's not so.

  10. sorry sorry sorry

Yes Tonic Water does have quinine in and not deet. Sorry xx

It's true I have not been bit for years and I used to get bit from head to toe before drinking tonic water.

Tonic water does have quinine in it which helps fight malaria in your body but deet is applied externally to help stop the bites.

So if I don't apply any deet how come I don't get bit any more? Could it be that I also take quinine in tablet form every day which is prescribed by my GP.

    I'm confused, haha

  11. Oh boy! My husband can relate to this

We went on our 1st cruise in november2013 (transatlantic)

My husband was fine when we set sail, he was fine doing the muster drill (yawn)

He was even fine when we went to dinner in mdr.

When we got up on 2nd day and I will never forget this because normally my husband has a stomach made of steel, he just sat on the bed and said "I don't feel right" from that moment on he vomited in every toilet we passed.

We got some anti sickness tablets from the medical centre on board, they did nothing.

At 1.45pm we were sitting up on deck 7 just watching over the promenade waiting for the medical centre to open at 4pm to get him the injection thats supposed to work wonders.

We didn't dare move because he would just vomit again and we didn't know how he was going to make it back to our cabin.

A lovely couple sat next to us and I got chatting to them and I explained the situation. They are experienced cruisers and they said has my husband tried AVOMINE tablets? He went to his cabin and brought back 3 Avomine, 1 to take straight away, 1 when he went to bed and 1 the next morning.

We said our thank yous as the couple left us.

Well within 45 minutes my husband was a different person, he no longer felt I'll, infact we went straight up to the wj for him to fill his boots.

He never took the 2nd tablet before going to bed, but I got up at 5 am to pay a visit and give him his 2nd tablet, he did not need the 3 rd as he was fine.

We found that couple again many a time and we couldn't thank them enough.

AVOMINE are available from Amazon and I'm going to make sure I've got plenty for this November

  12. Hi, how do people travel from Heathrow to Southampton.

We're booked with Iglu who last year provided transport for us back to Southampton where we left our car.

Talking to passengers last year on board some of them travelled down to Southampton by coach, travelled back the same way too.

This year Iglu have no transport as of yet from Heathrow to Southampton.

If we don't take our car down to southampton this year how do I arrange transport?

What coach company do I use?

I heard people say they got the coach in to Victoria in London then on to Southampton, but what about arrangements for travelling back?

This is the only part I'm stumped with and any help would be great

  13. Hi H, yes it is the noise factor I'm thinking about.

We're both light sleepers so would hear noise if any and I'd hate to think we were noisy for connecting stateroom. I'm deaf in my left ear so we tend to have the tv slightly loud.

I'd die of shame if we were noisy and they complained about us
