Being able to stick up for yourself is one thing. And telling parents with children who allow them to use the handicap bathroom while they are standing there is another. But be thankful for people in any situation for help. Hubby is am. but im in a chair he has bad knees we ran out of gas the other day 300 ft from the the station an older man stopped his truck to help push too. All of a sudden from two different directions came two trucks with two younger guys they started pushing and left my hubby and the other guy to walk they took the car and parked it for my hubby. They said i hope someone would do this for my parents. And they called me mom lol and they went back and shook my hubbys hand and said any time when he said thanks. Those are real men. And they got my thank you and my best smile.

People who are rude to the disabled are just ignorant. They have no idea of the difficulties disabled people face i.e when they walk backwards and fall into your lap and then turn round look surprised at seeing you and then accuse you of not looking where you were going. I then suggest that they get the eyes in the back of their head tested before they walk backwards again.
It always amazes me that complete strangers look at you and ask in an accusatory voice "what is wrong with you". "You don't look disabled". I usually reply "you dont look ignorant to me but you are being rude to ask someone you don't know what your illness is".
Also I had being petted on the head usually I then bark and say if they do that again I will bite. I do not appreciate being treated as a dog. They soon scurry off.
And as for getting in the elevators - usually I'm not in a hurry except when I need the ladies room - try to find the first disabled toilet I can find only to find the able-bodied using them and I can't help but ask them what their disability is that gives them the right to use it when all the other toilets are not being used. They look embarrassed and hurry away.

You didn't mention if you have sailed on the Dawn before? I was on last year and it was no issues at all. The layout a bit weird at times so there are some stairs if you don't want to be held up by the elevators. But as far as seating etc, no issues. If there was a table with arms I just politely asked for one without and it was done no questions.
I booked a handicap room as my weight is in my hips and a regular bathroom was out of the question. I am going on the Pearl soon and doing a cabin crawl so I will be interested to see what the other rooms are like.

I love love love the pearl have been on twice in a handicap cabin extra big nice nice nice staff. The theater has big chairs and sofas in the back loved the bliss and always got a armless chair....Try the Brazilian restaurant. the pearl has lovely steps into the pool and it has a rail all the way around. Have a good time! We are going on the epic for the first time in November on the sailing of the 16th. Would love to hang out. RED

YYYAAAA. Just booked my next cruise. Just a short one but so Canadian I couldn't resist. I am going with a group called the Giggle Dam theatre. They do a comedy theatre around Vancouver BC and are hosting events on the cruise. 29Sep from Vancouver to LA. Short and in my time zone so flights are cheap as well. Booked the handicap room again. I would love to say I could go in a regular one but it would bad for everyone all the way around!!!!

pauly my hubby rented one in 2008 from mens warehouse for 80 dollars two shirts two vests cumberbun and slacks with two ties cufflinks and shoes it was a size 70 .....he looked fab.
